Went to look at my first charger today a 1969. It was a roller. Very rusty. It had been stripped and left outside, so mostly surface powder rust. Is that something easy to get off? I read some posts about por and other liquid rust removers but the rust I'm most concernd about the rust inside the upper roof panel. Has anyone ever had to deal with this issue. Does anybody have any recollections or regrets on their very first charger? The car isnt really that bad body wise, its already been stripped and and most panels and  quarters are nice and straight comes with a bunch of parts plus a motor and tranny. If the deal goes thru I'll take pics and be on this board a lot buggin everone for info and tips. Right now I'm sittin here waiting for the guy to call me back on my offer. The wait is killin me

Vin starts with XP29 from what I can remember and it had a red interior. Anyone with pics of a red on red?

Sounds like you may have looked at a '69 Charger? You can get some good color ideas here. http://www.1969chargerregistry.com/gallery/albums.php  Red interior is killer. I love it. :yesnod:

Okay honest opinion. for 1200 do you think this is a good buy even if I wanted to part it out.

Couple more pics. Anyone interested in the green 440 GTX?

That 3rd pic down is some kind of fuel cell rig. Does that look like an 8 3/4 rear end in there? Also decoded the vin:
Body Type:   X  =  Dodge Charger
Price Class:   P  =  Premium
Body Type:   29  =  2 Door Sports Hardtop
Engine:   F  =  318 230HP 1-2BBL 8 CYL
Year:   9  =  1969
Sequence Number: 296873  =  196873rd Vehical Built

Car comes with the tail light lenses, front and rear bumbers, some trim and a 400 block with some other engine parts. Floor pans have no holes but obviously the trunk will need replaced and also the right rear quarter panel and well a bunch of other stuff. :-\ Maybe Im trying to talk myself out of it. Got the cash, got the wife onboard with the mess and lack of garage space what could be wrong with that.

looks like a good project, usuall things needing replaced. Go for it

The pics are pretty small, from what I can see, it looks rough...but for the price, I don't think you could get hurt. If you decide not to restore it, I'd sell it on eGouge to someone who would like to restore it...chances are, you'd make money in the deal. :yesnod:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

$1,200 isn't bad for a rolling chassis, if you are going to build it plan on putting alot of time and $$ into it to bring it back. It can be a long haul and unless you can do a ton of the work yourself may be worth buying to resell, either way buy it! There is always someone wanting a Charger.

$1200, hell yea, buy it. that's cheap

I hate to think whats expensive... but then, I'm still in the days where a good, solid Dart Sport or Duster could be had for under $500 running, and a 2nd gen Charger for under $3000 running.

Last I saw was a 3rd gen that was offered for $1500. Running.

Anybody know of worst case senarios where the title search came back on a stolen car? What happens then? Buyer loses money owner loses car? My BMV says owner cannot sell me the car until he gets a title.
