So today while on my way to work i pass a cop and he then pulls out behind me... Nothing to exciting or "story worthy" about that...

But as i passed the  cop originally i noticed its not the typical Crown Vic, or the Camaro.... its a 2006 charger.... Apparently there are alot of them. What the crap?!  :icon_smile_dead:

I'd complain about how my tax dollars being used to buy icky 2006 chargers, but i dont live in the same county that i work in so i cant really complain about that. But Seriously, are there really a lot of "charger" cop cars?

weird....  :-\ :-\

they specificly targeted the fleet industry with the magnum sedan..
there's an interesting article in the latest Collector car magazine about the Dodge 880 1962-1964,.. I am particularly interested because i had a '65.
anyhow,.. there was a Chrysler varient called the "Enforcer" made specificly for the Calif Hwy. Patrol. baised on the Dodge 880.
in case ya' misse the memo the "new charger" was due to be called the "Enforcer". the Charger name won out though because it had far better consumer awareness...

I heard our local police had just bought a bunch of them a few weeks ago. I have yet to see one, though...it'll probably take them a little while to get them all badged & lighted up.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

My job was looking into them but after hearing that you had to remove the front pass. seat to accept a modified prisoner cage, they decided against it.  They are great for traffic cars as they have excellent pick up but the neighboring town keeps having theirs break down.  Really fast at pick up but also really fast to break down.

The advantage to them is that hardly anyone is looking for a new charger for a cop to be in.  Lets face it, most of the cops are driving Crown Victoria's.

The cops I know in my area are chomping at the bit to get one.  They all say that the crown vic is a real wheezer and that they really miss the bowties they used to have.  Now that the new Charger meets their standards (actually far exceeds them), they are all waiting for their chance to get one.

Also along the same note, several of them are currently driving the Dodge Intrepid as an unmarked persuit car.  You think you wouldn't notice a cop in a marked Charger?  Try one in an unmarked Intrepid!   :-\

Well they've been here undercover for at least a yr..
I just in the last 5 min. got a fax stating the first two black and whites have entered service and extolling their superiority over the fords they replace.

BTW the TV show (one of my favs.) The Shield, uses them as The Strike Team's ride..

They have a few in our local force, but then again so do the local rental agencies and taxi services. ::)
