finally gotr my daughters 440 fired up and the cam broke in. i was a little surprised at how mellow the cam was, has a fairly smooth idle with a crower 271 cam.  it seems to run good, but for some damn reason i have an oil leak between the timing chain cover and the oil pan. i sure hope i can get it taken care of with out much disassembly. anyway  for the most part it went pretty well, fired right up.

Congrats Mike. Yep, the HDP 271 sounds mellow and it should with only 271* of seat timing and a 112* lsa. I bet it makes a ton of vacuum at idle. The cam does make power though....wait until you drop the hammer !

went out today and lookked the oil leak over.  it is coming from the very corner of the oil pan were it meets the timing chain cover- block. ive always been reall anal about getting a pan sealled up right but i just missed this. i cut the gasket away and cleaned it real well with brake clean and blue it off, whn put some rtv on it, hopefully if works or ill be pulling the timing chain cover or oil pan. ill let it sit over night and try in in the morning.
