Just got the call from the body shop  O0 :D :METAL:

They have finished the body and paint work on the car, so I am going to try and pick it back up tonight.  I am anxious to see how the new hood and tail treatment looks.  My brother's 68 Fury 2 door post is also finished (white w/blue pearl) and we will try to pick them up together.  I will try to get some pics in for tomorrow morning.  Now, I just have to finish the interior before next Saturday and the early iron show

******update******

I called the body shop back to ask them about picking the car up tonight, and discovered that the car is actually NOT finished.  There was a strange pattern sprayed on the hood and tail of the car when I bought it, and I wanted it taken back to a stock appearance with a black tail and all yellow hood.  The body guy has been in the process of moving to another town, and he decided he didn't have enough time to do it, so he just decided not to.  He did a dent repair and some other work for me, but just decided not to complete the job.  Now I am losing the only body guy I know who could do the job and I am back to searching for a good one again.  Looks like I might not make the Early Iron after all.  I am steaming mad  :flame: :flame: :flame:

Welcome to the club brother!! I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. I have another guy that's supposed to do mine. He says he will take it next week. I am cautiously optimistic. I wish you luck.  It's getting harder to find body men that want to do full resto paint work. I think they are able to make more money on fender benders and the turn around time is faster.

yep, body guys don't fix parts anymore,  If it has a dent they order a new one,  Body work is becoming a dying art.

Colorado.

I did some searching around town and think I might have found an option.  There is a very reputable shop here in town that typically only does standard collision stuff.  I have seen lots of their work, and they do a fantastic job with blending...very important in this particular situation.  I took in some pictures of the car, and the guy said that in this particular circumstance, he just might take my car.  I think he just likes the fact that its a charger ;)  At any rate, since it isn't a real bodywork issue and is more just a repaint and blend he wants me to run it by so he can do an estimate.  I'm sure they will be expensive, but I know the quality will be exceptional.  I have a lead on another shop as well, but I would prefer to use the first shop if possible.  Anyway, things are better than they were earlier

I am still pissed at the other body guy, though  :flame: :flame: :flame:

Well I am a little of your range, I live by St Louis MO. Fender bender's do pay better and keep the bay's open.

Looking for some local work till I find a job.

Hey Ken, if this guy ends up flaking out on me would you be interested in finishing my car? I could load it on my trailer and bring it to you.

Another alternative would be to have the guy who is working on my car finish it up for you. All he does is Mopar restorations. Chances are you have seen his work in Mopar Muscle (most recent was an aluminum Cuda a few months back). It's an option but it would require that you brought your car out to MN...

Sorry to hear about that Volk, I hope you find somebody to finish it soon!

Rebby, what's the place called in MN? I'm in Saint Paul and starting to search around for a good body/paint guy. Thanks  !

For those interested in the body shop information in MN please contact me directly via PM or using a method listed on my website (http://rebby.com/contact.php). I'd rather not publish information publically w/out prior approval. Thanks...

I'm actually in the North Saint Paul area. I figure if people aren't familiar with the suburbs they'll at least know where Saint Paul is.

Oh sorry, the MN location is in HUGO, MN (but is NOT Sharadon Performance and is not listed in any phone book).  Seriously, give me a call, you won't be disappointed. :icon_smile_wink:

what is it with bodymen/ shops?? I know how you feel ,guy kept my charger 2 years before he decided he did not want to paint it, unless you find a bodyman/shop that just loves old mopars and/or muscle cars.. your pretty much just gonna get the run around, I've about decided to paint my car myself.. my not be perfect, but at least it will get done.
