Sounds great maybe I will have my Charger back from the shop....
Car's got a lot of pickup. It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

Brock Samson

maybe i'll have the road runner instread of the Charger this year...
That would be so great!

Hello all MPM members, well the car show season is almost done for this year, but not before a few more very cool events in October will transpire. First thought here are some photos from the Horses to Horsepower car show (Yes I slept there overnight and just about froze to death!) and the Blue Angles car show at the San Francisco Airport.

Click on the links below. One note if you are using AOL, you may not be able to view the photos unless you go through your Explorer directly. If anyone  knows why this is happening to AOL users only, please let me know!

How to clean up oil spillage:

Be sure to use oil absorbent ("Speedi-Dri", etc), not scented cat litter.  Oil absorbent is ground to a much smaller and more uniform particle size, so it exposes more surface area to the spill.  Its also a type of clay that has a greater affinity for oil.  Cat litter only needs to absorb water.  After you sweep up the last little bit, spray the spot with carb cleaner or brake cleaner.  Let it soak in for a minute or two (re-wet as required), then soak it up with paper towels.

The problem with transmission fluid is that its viscosity is so low that it readily soaks into the porous concrete.  If you spill some and don't immediately apply absorbent, it will disappear into the concrete, leaving a red or brown spot.  Same with brake fluid.

If you need to clean oil-soaked concrete, use an alkaline "Concrete Cleaner".  It will chemically react with the petroleum and convert it into soap.  Follow the package instructions.  Don't attempt to use any acid (hydrochloric (a/k/a muriatic), phosphoric, etc) to clean the concrete.  Acids are used only to etch the concrete in preparation for painting.  They will not remove oils.  BTW never keep a bottle of hydrochloric /  muriatic acid in your house or garage.  The HCl vapors will escape the bottle, no matter how tightly sealed, and react with any condensation on metal objects, forming hydrochloric acid.  All unprotected steel will soon be covered with rust!  And because the corrosion process forms ferric chloride, even if the object is dried, it will rust further as soon as condensation again forms and the ferric chloride goes into solution.  Chloride corrosion of steel is almost impossible to stop once it starts (just look at cars in areas where roads are salted in winter). In your house, chlorides will destroy gas-fired appliances and their venting systems.

Thanks to Ken Mayer for the above advice.

Okay, I got the charger full of gas now if I can only roust my girl friend in the morning so we can get there by 8 or so -- we are a late night crowd!  By the way, I will likely leave around noonish -- is it easy to get out or are the cars trapped?  Come by and have a cookie -- we will be there or maybe doing some geocaching in the park.  Kim

Brock it was nice seeing you there. I did not spend that much time with Stu this time ( I wish I had) because I with a bunch of my buddies that I haven't seen in some years. There were alot more Mopars this time. It was a very good show. This Saturday is Mopar Magic up at Sacramento. I will be up there with my car hopefully. I trying to trace down a coolant leak.

A matter of fact my buddy (with the convertible roadrunner) and I just met the 68 GtX owner that morning. He and his wife were very nice.  We got there at 5:30am and he pulled up at 6 and asked if he could park next to the Mopars. We said no problem.

it took me approx three hours to get more then 15 feet from my car as so many old friends (and new one too) were comming up to me attracted by the Charger... including a film crew from Current TV's "My Rides" who did a half hour interview with me in my car, seems the shows producer is having his '70 383 four speed restored, hence his intrest in mine.. that's the second '70 383 four speed owner i met in two days.. (as per the Gotellies speed shop thread in gen disc.) and there were so many cool cars near mine i neary didn't get more then a few cars away, thank goodness for my limited bladder capacity or i never would have gotten away from the food and drink.. and out on the field...  :icon_smile_wink:
The Awsome Yellow Firebird next to my r/t was the  1970 1/2 "BFG Tirebird".  i spent alot of time chatting with the owner and learning about it's history,...  it's the only firebird T/A to come with a  LS-6 454 and served duty as the BF Goodrich poster car...
The rest of the time i wandered down but ran out of time and never got above the MPM tent...
so i didnt see probably 3-400 cars i did spot a speed boat painted up like the Jenny Lee in metal flake meant to blind...  :icon_smile_cool:
