stock fuel filter location

I'm replacing an aftermarket fuel filter with a Mopar stock filter

where does it mount on the fuel line - near the carb or down near the fuel pump?

I prefere the steel can type , they cannot melt or crack

which side is the in and which is the out?  does it matter?

it will say in or out on the filter..but in the first picture..."in" is at the bottom

My filters are kinda right behind the alternator...

The one in the picture is a Mopar replacement.  The originals were metal with a blue silk screening on them.  Correct repros with and without date codes are now available.
