Hey Steve...Don't the GM V8's run  a different firing order than the Mopars ?

Either way the system doesn't care the pickup in the distributor just tells the system to fire the next plug.  Spark plug wires connected to the cap determine what plug is fired next.

The system is set to have a initial timing of 6 degrees. This matches the engine timing to the computer timing. Because of the backward wires this matching of engine and computer could not be accomplished. At certain times the engine timing was so far off the computer had adjusted my idle timing between 45 to 60 degrees BTDC when it should be 15 to 20 and jumped all over the place. (LOST ITS FRICKING MIND)

Its really amazing the difference it how everything runs with those two little wires connected correctly.

Another update.

Drug my full length headers a few to many times and created several exhaust leaks.
Removed the full length headers and installed Headman Shorty Headers. Steering Idler Arm hits collector so I took those off.
Going to put the 69 HP Exhaust manifolds back on and I'm waiting for the new studs and nuts to arrive today.
Saturday I will take the Charger to the exhaust shop.

Next weekend a GM FI expert is going to tune my system.
Going to Install a IAT (Ait Temp) sensor, Knock Sensor and Transmission Gear sensor before then.

Then its off to the suspension shop for new bushings and a alignment.

ChgrSteve67

Another update.

Suspension shop finished rebuilding the front end, amazing the Charger will stay in the road now.
Fuel Injection programmer finally materialized and made a world of difference in how the motor runs, can't wait to put it on a Dyno again to see the HP difference.
I bought a trailer a few weeks ago to make a teardrop trailer to pull behind the Charger when I hit the road.  (See pics)
Last weekend was mostly spent making a trailer hitch for the Charger and getting it installed. (See pics)

Time to finish taking the Charger apart so I can get the paint stripped (Think I have said that before).

Cool progress pics, good reading too dude. I like these rebuild threads. The only thing I might add about the FI problem is, maybe your Charger just doesn't like having Chevy parts on it. :D

The thought had crossed my mind.     :scratchchin:

Here is a piece of redneck engineering for you.

The two items below were used as nuts for two screws the previous owner of my Charger used to hold my drivers side door panel in place.
The screws were about two inches long, I'm not really sure how the glass didn't hit them and explode.

ChgrSteve67

Tomorrow the Charger is off to the Media Blaster.

Charger Update.

Had to pester the Stripper a bit to get a fire lit under their a$$ and stopped buy to see how they are doing.

Charger should be done and ready for pickup buy Friday.
Its completely stripped and ready to be sealed and primered.
They were doing the sealer primer today and had completed one of the hoods and the trunk.

Here are some pics.

The second to last picture is the only cancer found on the ol' gal
One of the front fenders will need some body work and there is a small place on the rear drivers side quarter panel that has some bondo (about 1/8 inch - size of softball) that needs to be removed and repaired correctly. Other than that I'm in really good shape.

It will be like the pic in my signature except I'm going to go with a Viper Red Base and Clear, a Midnight Black Lower Stripe and Birthday Roof Stripe.  Along with ALL of the Chrome plus a few extras.

Its what the roof line stripe is called.

Some marketing gimmick I imagine.
Originally my Charger was Yellow with a White BD Stripe.

Ghoste

Actually Steve, I think the roof accent stripe was standard.  The Birthday Stripe package went along the lower part of the side.

Ghoste

Here's a press release for the Birthday Package.

ChgrSteve67

Not the first time I'm wrong about something.

Thanks GHOST!

I'm not putting a birthday stripe on my Charger or a Vinyl Top.

BTW I like the hub caps
