I'm planning on painting this car lime green with black double stripes and a black 00 on each side as my car number. I can't wait It should be so much fun. Anyone else race stock cars for a hobby?

cool looking truck 81-93 body? with a 94-01 front grille I assume?

I did it for over 10 years, I always raced mopars with mopar chassis, except for 4 nights in my career, 3 were in a 70 challenger with a camaro stub tube chassis, one was a borrowed car when i droped a valve in practice..even good chevys drive like crap but they are simple to build , simple to fix,,its all monkey see monkey do in a chevy..few racers really understand why there car turns, they will beat ya every time too..
.....Expect to spend 3X what you think you will..PLANN to spend 5X what you think you will.that will be pretty close.

Yeah the car I'm buying is all set up except for a few bracing things like this tube bumper rebar and skid plates under the front suspension. Then theres a box for the gas tank and the bumpers have to be welded to the frame so they don't fall off, and I need to fix the rollcage a bit but other then that and some work on the motor it'll be ready to race. The guy i'm buying it from is gonna let me use tires that he has because he has alot lol. and all I really have to pay for extra is a couple extra parts of suspension and sheetmetal and gas. So yeah I think I'll spend a grand in total but I'll expect to pay like 2500 but thats fine by me.

the last season i raced a hobby stock i spent about 6 grand. my part of the engine cost me over 3..it was about a 5k engine. this is a "stock class" everything in the engine was a production part but the pistons and cam. cast iorn in and out, and a stock 2bbl..it made well over 300hp and 325lbft of torque. I started out racing a car that was really stock, and replacing stock engines every couple weeks. it wasnt worth the trouble but thats how tou learn..i could swap motors by myself in 3 hours easly back then.

actually, it is 78 power wagon with a 83' olds cutlass chassis. 10.5 to 1 360 w/ 727 tf. the bed is made from 2'x2' pieces of sheet steel. the nose and tail are plastic 5 star body panels.
