68 383 4BBl. 4 Spd Charger Found. How Many Made?

I have a production numbers question.Today I came across a 68 Charger vin tag XP29H8. It obviously is an original stickshift car. I forgot to check for a fender tag as there was nobody home and I didn't want to be snooping around stuff. The car is kinda rough but still fairly solid. I was just wondering if anybody knew how many of these were made. I thought I remembered it being a fairly low number, but I am not sure. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Off the top of my head, it is one of 254 if I remember right (I am probably off).  I know that there were 74 2bbl., 4-speed versions that year.....

it's 259 i believe.. seems like there ae quite a few of those still in existence.. the 74 2 barrel versions are the ones i hardly have seen any of

Pics would probably be a disapointment. This is northern Michigan after all, on the verge of being a parts car at this point I am thinking...unless you have a donor or spare parts in your stash. But I will try to get some. It all depends on the hillbilly owners.

I remember a rough '68 383 4 speed in Michigan on Ebay a couple years ago. I think it was red without a vinyl top.

This car was originally a medium bronze (T5 maybe) with red primer quarter panels and no front clip. Could we be thinking of the same car?

I am almost positive the car I am thinking of was coded PP1 red because it was that same as my '68 383 automatic. At the time the car was located on the Lake Michigan side of the state maybe halfway up. I can't recall the town though.

For some reason quite a few of those relatively rare cars are showing up. One parked next to me at a local show here about a month ago. Originally a blue California car that is now painted black.

I don't want to "hack" the car but it is rough and would take a pretty good chunk of cash to bring it back to even being a daily driver. Still very unusual to see them around these parts. Probably only about tha 10th-12th one I've ever found in the wild up here since I got my first one back in the spring of '88

Yeah, seems like a good number have escaped the crusher as they seem to be coming out of the woodwork. I think two others popped up earlier this year on this board alone. Some models tend to have a higher than usual survival rate. 69 R/T SE cars as an example.
