I was thinking of you guys last week when some dirtbag in Cleveland shot and killed an officer.

Story is cops went to bring a fugitive in on a warrant for rape and burglary charges. they went to his house and were at the door ready to break it down when the dirt bag in question decided to fire a single round from his .357 through the front door. The round went into the armpit of the cop on the other side through a small opening in his bullet proof vest and killed him instantly. The dirtbag in question then came out arms raised and was taken into custody. Man how the rest of the cops standing there did not fill him full of lead as soon as he walked out of the house I don't know. Cop leaves behind a wife and 8 month old baby.

In Detroit today 2 cops got shot ,1 male the other a female. 1 in the leg the other in the butt. The doctors think they will both be ok. Oh yeah the guy who shot them was shot dead.

In 1989 I watch live a hostage situation on TV in Washington DC where an illegal immigrant high on crack took a hostage with a shotgun. The police negotiator was a very well trained and was crouched at the doorway to the house when the crackhead came out of the house holding the shotgun at the head of the hostage. he turned to face the cop at the doorway who was trying to get him to release the hostage. The CH turned to face him and the police negotiator against his own training laid his gun on the ground. As soon as he did that the CH leveled the shotgun at the cop and blew him away at short range. He tried to run but he got no more than 20 feet when a cop came out of a doorway with a AR15 and emptied his 20 round magazine into the CH's back. Along with a hail of bullets from about 30 other officers.

Sad situation because my boss at the time was married to a DC cop and she had to do the crime scene after the incident. The thing was that this cop had preached to NEVER NEVER NEVER give up your gun in a hostage situation and that was the first thing he did when the CH came out of the house.

Sounds like he WILLINGLY gave his life for the hostage.  Question is why DON'T MORE COPS CARRY A BACK-UP?!?!?!?  Especially for situations like when weapon retension is lost unexpectedly...

Here in Canada 4 police officers were killed when they went to search someone's property. The guy wasn't home so they were waiting for backup when the guy opened fire with a high powered rifle from about 300 yards away. The investigators figured that the first was killed instantly and the others took cover, but since they didn't know where the shots were coming from they left themselves exposed. The very last cop managed to see the muzzle flashes or something because he took a few pot shots with his pistol but at that range he might have well been using a sling shot.

We lost a deputy named Todd Fatta two years ago:  http://www.odmp.org/officer.php?oid=17424

He had gone to execute a warrant with other officers and the suspect open fired with a rifle.  Rifle round went through his vest and killed him.  Another deputy lost a finger.  The suspect immediately gave up and is justifying his shooting by saying something about he thought that they were burglars.  I saw the crime scene...very sad with bloody hand prints and such near a pool of dried blood on the floor.  Since then most warrants are executed by the SWAT team, who wear ceramic plated vests that are rifle resistant.

My department just recently authorized AR15 rifles, providing we purchase them ourselves.  Cost me $1600 for something I don't ever expect to use...but if I do it'll be a bargain.  Amazingly, during a training session one ignorant deputy said "I don't understand why we need AR15s!" to which another deputy responded "I've got a 50 minute video to answer that question." referring to the Hollywood Bank of American shootout in which two armored suspects with machine guns shot the hell out of a bunch of cops who were only armed with 9mm Berettas and buckshot shotguns.

You want to see cops with guns go to Mexico, I was in Acapulco last march, those cops all walk around with machine guns not just 1 or 2 cops but truck loads-this is in the day time 4-5 pick up trucks would drive down the main strip all together with about 15 guys in the bed in each truck. At night time they would drop 2 off every block on both side of the strip. I thought I was in a war zone almost, hugh army trucks driving around with who knows what in back. Some of those cops or army guys look really mean too. Weather was great sunshine everyday and 90 degrees but I am not going back. Most everybody speaks only Spanish and it seem dirty there, glad I went but once is enough.

Loads of guns in my cruiser:

Primary- Glock 22
Back up- Glock 27
Remington 870- 14 inch
Remington 870 Less Lethal (beanbag gun) 14 inch
M16 Auto

and plenty ammo for all.  You never know what your gonna need so my theory is take it all.

This ticket is only $69.00 ?  If I'd have known that I'd have been going FASTER !
