does anyone know where to find new weatherstripping for the quarter windows on a 71 model Charger? I've looked everywhere with no such luck.

Nacho-RT74

do you mean the quarter glass vertical seal ?

www.gtrestoration.com sells them, I bought from there sometime ago to my 74. They are steelerubber made, but GTrestoration had cheaper price than manufacturer on those days. They are not perfect since originals have a bigger metallic reinforcement, but works decent.

Just sell the weatherstrip not the molding, you need to remove your old rubber one from molding and install this one.

Now about the rest of weatherstripes, any restorer parts dealer have them, Year One, Paddock, GTrestorations etc... I don't know the rest, but Year One catwiskers ones sucks.

Nacho,

that's the part. how do you install the rubber over the existing moulding? it looks like a pain in the ass to replace, but I gotta do it. thanks for your help.

Nacho-RT74

Is easy, just straighting a keeping tab on lower section and then sliding up the rubber. That rubber has a metallic reinforcement that is what is sliced on to molding. piece of cake.

New replacement part is a little bit harded to fit as any new part, but with some grease will be easy. You will notice the differences when you get... good replacement part but not perfect.

Your right, this shouldn't be a problem. I went out and looked closely as to how the piece was inserted from the factory.

is Steelerubber the only place that has this piece? I didn't see a listing for GT restorations. I would like to find parts as close to original as possible, but if the Steelerubber parts are all that I can find, I'll take 'em.

Nacho-RT74

was already hard to find the steele rubber one. If you know some one else, let me know.

I have learnt about repro parts ( not even USA made ) they are not exactly to original, oftenly not even close so take it easy, Take a breath and think OH, WELL!!!

Need this quarter glass weatherstripping for my 72 SE.. is 71-74 the same..?

Did a search on YearOne, but couldn´t find any.. only for E-body

Nacho-RT74

as far I know 71/72 are shorter and 73/74  are longer. As stated GTrestorations have them from steele rubber. Or at least he used to. I got from them about 3 years ago

Ok.. found it http://www.gtrestoration.com/cart/show/item/106389..

*EDIT* Found a dealer here in Sweden.. but add says 71-74 B-body (not SE).. are SE:s diffrent..?

Nacho-RT74

73/74 SEs... remember they are fixed framed quarter windows... same as spring specials. Vertical seal on 73/74 SEs is actually the same roof rail Weatherstrip runing down up door opining.

When you get, try to don't get dissapointment. Is not a perfect piece. but this time at least this is very close. Only good repo parts I have seen are good enough are doors and roof rail parts... windows parts are pieces of s**t

yes 72 SE is different from the other models and Door weather strip seals are EXTREAMLY hard to find yes some regular 71 and 72 parts will work and can be made to work to do repairs to your car but if your looking for true Replacement parts we will have to wait till a mfg thinks that the 19000 or so that were built there may be a profit in making them for the surviving ones too have true replacement parts.
I had spoken to two different mfg's. About making up a set for my car but I haven't pulled them off yet too send them back too him, They don't see a profit in tooling up for the model though to few were made and not enough interest in the model.
There is also a member here who say's he has sets he has sold over sea's and had yet to hear back from the guy as to how well they fit.
They were a custom made set, I was kinda waiteing for him to get back to me about his set's.
He was selling a 71 RT on here a month or so back.

I have a 72 SE with power windows and power sunroof with a 440 magnum rally dash consol with flip head lights all matching numbers. although the block is cracked but repairable.
I think its worth spending the money on for the correct replacement parts, and too me if the part doesn't look original it doesn't go on my car! But that's just me. I would rather keep the old stuff than hack it.

I am in the process of stripping it out to go into a dip tank it will then be phosphate coated not E coated I will paint the car with rust Bullit before painting the car in color, But I am working with one hand currently so its going slow in my spare time.
I will get more serious about the project as I get more parts collected for it.

Hi Nacho
No offence just I have been calling around to a bunch of supplyers and they all say the same thing all esxcept SE for 72 now I am not saying some of the 71 parts wont work but all the supplyers say they dont.

When I get into it a bit more after my arm heals up a bit I will be removing a set from my parts car to send off to see if they will make me a set I will comment on this subject again after I find out for sure.
After all I may be makeing a set of 71's work for my car!

Don't worry, just saying you that SPECIFICALLY the quarter window vertical seal, what is the one we are talking about is the same.

Only diff parts between SE and non SE are quarter fuzzies. Roofrail WS is the same just need to cut it to match with diff length.
