What color is your bottom?

No jokes here!   ;D

I still have my 68 charger on the flipper, and I coated the the entire bottom with POR-15.  I was going to paint the bottom of the car to match the body color (hemi orange), but it looks pretty nice gloss black.  Not that the car is going to be a rocket, but I don't want to use undercoating because it is heavier than paint - I will need all the advantages I can get to whip on some imports!  What have you guys done?  ??? Body color or black?  Thanks for any input.

similar to factory ,I painted the  whole lot dark matt/ satin  gray ( instead of primer) , then body color  ( 1or 2  passes with the gun) around the edge of floor/ trunk  pans / front frame rails  etc just letting the over spray go were it goes  fading to solid gray in the centre . then spray on  black undercoating on  wheel wells , rear frame rails ,were ever the factory sprayed it on your car . no two chargers have exactly the same pattern .

My bottom is alittle red after a good spanking....oh, did I just type that? Mine is still F3 green, the original body color. I plan on painting the bottom the same as the top.

Thanks.  I forgot that the factory mainly just "oversprayed" the bottom.  The previous owner coated the bottom with cheap undercoating, and most of it was peeling off.  I have been cleaning it off with a 4 1/2" grinder with a cupped wire wheel.  I can get it to bare metal if I put some elbow grease into it.  I guess I will spray it the body color.  Thanks again guys! :yesnod:

POR 15..I just wanted it protected.

My car came with just a dull gray wash primer bottom and a little color around the edges.  Only the wheel wells were undercoated so thats all I did do it.  I guess it's to "add lightness" as aviation engineers say.

Mine is Zerorust coated on the underbelly. It has a semi gloss finish which is not as shiny as Por15 but just as durable and easier to apply.  ;)

I'll be using rubberized undercoating in the wheel wells for chip protection and sound absorption.  :yesnod:

Firefighter, did you brush on your zero rust or spray it on???  How did you clean the bottom of your car before applying?
