I found a nice nearly rust free quarter and want to use it, but the problem is the quarter clip is 68 and my car is 69. given the rarity of finding anything rust free for these cars, and wanting to use an original full quarter instead of the repop, how big a deal is it to fill the round marker light and cut the proper one on the donor panel? I'm thinking it might still be better in the long run because this quarter will fit properly.Has anyone else "converted" one?

You can find several guys in the aero section who have converted '70 marker lights to '69. Basically you're just going to have to treat the round '68 marker hole like a rust hole and patch it. Then get some measurements to find the correct spot for the '69. They are nowhere near the same location so it should be fairly easy. I'd sure hate to cut up a nice '68 quarter though. :'(

bull, that's pretty much what I thought too, I just wanted to see if anybody else had already done it. I hear what you're saying about cutting on a good piece, but finding any year quarter that isn't rusty is getting pretty rare, especially one that doesn't cost a small fortune. I bought it and a very nice 68 drivers fender for $750, not cheap, but reasonable I thought.

I would not think that there would be much of a price difference in a rust free 68 quarter vs. a 69.  why not sell the 68 and use the money to buy a 69?  I know they are rare, and it will take extra time.  maybe take a little time and put the feeler out that you would trade your mint 68 panel for a mint 69 one.  might not hurt...

:iagree: sounds like a good idea to me ,  i would not cut and modify it , unless it was the last resort & thats the only one i could find .  no biggie to swap side marker's just takes a bit of time carefully lining it up , making sure it is in the right place .
