What do you guys think about the wieand action plus for the 383?I have a performer rpm and a action plus.I think the wiend intake will work with all the factory throttle bracks and kick down.Just tring to decide which intake to run

Good dual plane. Just a bit taller than a factory intake.

wiil it work with stock linkage and throttle brackets?

Chryco Psycho

it should be within the adjustment range

Anyone have any pics of the weiand intake on their big block?

I don't have pics but I do run the RPM intake on my 383 with all the original brackets and kickdown setup. I also still run the stock throttle bracket and cable. It does adjust.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

I went with Neil's (ChrycoPsyco) suggestion and so far I'm happy with the choice. Will let you know hopefully by next week how she runs. Scheduled on having the cam/engine break-in next week. Since I used the INDY EZ heads, my engine builder had to shave off the heat cross chamber off the bottom of the manifold. If you are using stock heads and the tin valley pan, you will not need to do that. I had to use the INDY valley plate cause the heads stick up about 1/2" - 3/4" higher that the stock heads. The intake had all the threaded holes for all the throttle linkage attachments and accessories - no modification needed there. The only thing I had to modify was the A/C brackets so my compressor could sit properly and in line. I also had to modify the air filter pan to compensate for the additional height the INDY EZ heads raised my intake.

this one shows all the attachments and it looks very close to "stock".

So you went with the Weiand action plus, right?  I can just make out the Weiand name in the pictures.  I'm glad to see that you can use your stock brackets, linkages, etc.  Did you ever get this thing running?

Yes it's running beautiful besides an annoying little oil leak that I'm trying to trace. I'll take few pictures this week. Yes that is the Weiand manifold. Everything stock bolted up with no problems. Plenty of power!!!  :2thumbs:

I'm glad to hear that your motor turned out so well.  I'm also glad to hear that you were able to use all of your stock linkages, brackets and whatnot, as I'll be looking into getting a Weiand intake also...

If that vacuum gauge is not steady when you check the vacuum on your motor MYK I would pop the heads off and take them to a good shop for a valve job. Its not that hard-just make sure you drain the coolant out, theres a plug on each side of the block that screws out. Then you unbolt the exhaust manifolds or headers and take all the head bolts out. I like to just crank the motor over till the heads pop loose-keep a few bolts in the head loose so the heads don't fall off.

That's not a bad idea.  It'd be a chance to have some work done to the heads, also.

Someone else here suggested that hooking up the vacuum gauge to the intake manifold to brake booster hose may have caused an erratic reading.  It was then suggested that I try hooking up the gauge to the PCV port on the 'carb; I'll let you guys know how it turns out...

Myk, if you go with the Weiand, makesure you will not have a hood clearance problem. I believe they sit a bit (1/2") higher than the Eddys or Holleys.

Eeek.  Thanks for the warning.  Hood clearance issues may be the deciding factor between the Weiand Action Plus or the Holley Street Dominatrix, or whatever it's called.  Apparently, the Holley is a low profile intake which should guarantee that I will be able to use my stock linkages, cables, etc..

I had to modify my air cleaner, but everything worked out good. Just check the spec's on all manifolds, they will give you two dimensions and take the average of both measurements.
