If I had to pick any 80s hair bad, I'd have to go with Cinderella.

:2thumbs:

I'd take that a lot more seriously if the pic wasn't of a guy named "Marion."

Seriously tho, Cinderella was actually not a bad band.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And next you'll be telling us that Warrant, or maybe Slaughter wasn't too bad either. :icon_smile_blackeye: :icon_smile_dissapprove:

Or would Winger be a better bet. :D

Were you a closet Stryper fan, OC? :scratchchin:

Def Leppard makes me want to drink poison.  Poison makes me want to get mauled by a deaf leopard.

As far as all of these bands go, I was too busy listening to bands like Dr. Know, Alien Sex Fiend, Black Flag, The Dead Kennedys, Christian Death, S.W.A.N.S., Coil, Apparatus, SNFU, etc. to spend much time listening to any of that crap, but like I said, If I had to pick ANY eighties hair band, it'd be Cinderella.

I have to add KISS as my favorite in the hair band days. Gotta love Lick it Up.

Ron, when I saw them a few weeks ago they did a TEN minute rendition of Rocket.  Hearing that drum line for that long was absolutely AWESOME.   Go to your favorite music stealer site and download the LIVE version from Bonn.  It's not very good, but the extended drum line in the middle is good.

You can't find any better choices than this stuff?   ::)

I hated all that 80's metal, but was damn happy when Deep Purple reunited. Got to see them, & when they played "My Woman From Tokyo" it was better than anything recorded in the 80's by any of the hair monsters.   :D

Poison was a better "Hair Band" strictly by definition.  In regards to actual talent, I'd have to go for DL.  That being said, I wouldn't intentionally listen to either.   If I had to listen to an 80's "hair band" I'd listen to either GnR or The Cult.   My preferred groups of that time frame were Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax & Slayer.

Good choices. :yesnod:

Anthrax definitely had hair metal overtones what with Joey's voice.  :icon_smile_big:

Pre-Newsted Metallica is great.  :icon_smile_cool:

Still get goosebumps listening to, "Orion", and, "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth". :METAL:

Same here. :yesnod:

And KISS? Hell yeah! When I was younger, I owned every stinkin' album they made, right up until 1981...then I lost the whole collection somehow when we moved. :icon_smile_angry:
Now all I have is a CD of Destroyer. ::)
Recently, I was tempted to start collecting them again through eGouge, but those damned things (the records) ain't cheap anymore! :o

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I don't know if youre being sarcastic...but yeah, Cinderella was very underrated. I saw them about a month ago on their tour with Poison, Slaughter and Faster Pussycat (some chick talked me into going). They're pretty talented.

Poison is a lot of fun to listen to, but you can't really take them seriously. That's the difference between a lot of the hairbands and  bands like Def Leppard and Bon Jovi, who think they're too good to be part of that scene, meanwhile they were 'pretty boy' bands.

Nope, I was being serious.  If you listen to Cinderella's "Long Cold Winter" album, you'll see what I'm talking about.  Very gritty bluesy rock-n-roll.

Yeha, I was pretty impressed when I saw them live. I only knew 2 or 3 songs so I wasn't a real big fan of theirs, but after that I started checking out more of their stuff. Tom Keifer is a pretty talented dude - I didnt know he played lead guitar and piano (and even the sax solo on "Shelter Me") on most of their songs.

Toward the end of the hair band era I was beginning to wonder if some of them were not taking themselves serious on purpose. It's like they were trying so hard to be different that they became a parody of the genre and it overshadowed their talent. Poison had/has a lot of talent but I think coming late to the party hurt their marketability in many ways. But they chose that route to fame and now they're kind of stuck with the legacy.

Heh

Back a few years ago, I was at a punk concert at a small venue here in Charlotte.  I was with this goth hottie when she taps me on the shoulder and points to this scary-looking dude next to me.  This guy had long curly hair past his shoulder blades and a full beard...he looked kinda like the lead singer of some '70s southern rock band.  She goes "You know who that is?"  I respond "no"

Turns out it was the lead singer of "A Flock of Seagulls."

I talked to him for a while and bought him a couple of beers.  one HELL of a nice guy.

check em out. I discovered them because this guy that works for Howard Stern was their drummer and he mentioned them a few times. I thought they would suck, but they turned out to be pretty legit.

BTW - just noticed that you left Slayer out of your list. WTF Dude?
