The dealerships aren't even hawking them very hard anymore.   They were up front for a while but now are buried in the lineup.

Hey Ghoste, I noticed the same thing just yesterday...they aren't even in front of the dealership anymore. I wonder what's going on....I mean seriously, shouldn't they be trying to sell thses things as hard as possible?

Hey 20 Mustangs to 1 Charger says it all, but if dealerships are stuck with these Albatrosses because of Creed and DCX's stupid design and decision to make a 4 door Charger then where is the justice in that? I can't imagine too many of the dealerships liked the '06 Creeder any more than many of us do...why should they be stuck with a bill for a POS they were forced to put on the lot and can't even sell?

It could have been so much more though.

Could have, but isn't, and no amount of crying, complaining, or bitching will change that fact.

Isn't it funny how the Mustang fans complained about the Probe replacing the Mustang and they were heard

That's the thing.  THEY were heard.  WE aren't.  DCX does not care what we think.  We don't represent a majority of possible sales.  So, we play 2nd fiddle, sadly.  Complaining about the 06 Charger will accomplish nothing more than adding to your postcount, and hijacking threads.  Seriously, you don't still believe that DCX will immediatly change the Charger, just because we don't think it's all that it could be, do you?

And, if you think about it, will ANY new car ever truly live up to the classics?  Not in my mind.  The new Mustang sure doesn't.  It looks the part from the outside, but the interior sucks.  To me, there will never be a Charger as good as the 66-74s, so I might as well not expect one to be made.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Big Lebowski

The '06 fans say 11,000 Chargers have sold so far. So they proudly claim that it will meet the 66,000 Charger goal. The funny thing is, the year long period for counting how many Chargers have sold will be an 18 month period? So that's cool, the year is now 18 months long. Right on. :icon_smile_cool:

BTW, anyone hear any rumors about Dodge asking Nascar for a new nose on the race car Charger?
"Let me explain something to you, um i am not Mr. Lebowski, you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the dude, so that's what you call me. That or his dudeness, or duder, or you know, el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."

None have sold here; or not enough to actually be seen on the roads. And since I almost always end up stuck in traffic when I go to work; I should see at least one.

Plenty of Magnums and 300s; not a single Charger. 4 of the new Mustangs at my work alone; including a Saleen. Possibly more depending on who comes in while I'm not looking.

I've looked at the new Mustang (I'll be in the market early next year); and I wouldn't even begin to purchase that thing. The interior is a far fall from my Camaro's; and I despise my Camaro's interior. Sadly; nothing DCX has will even begin to catch my interest as much as the Mustang. But Hyundai has the '06 Sonata, GM the Monte Carlo and Impala, which are all top contenders for what I'll buy come time.

I'm not necessarily talking about immediate changes because there's no such thing in the car industry. I'm talking about continued pressure on the company so when they do finally change the platform they change it for the better. As far as I know that change will come in '09. Part of my hope is that they won't royally screw the Challenger up so they will finally understand that retro muscle has a market, as if the new Mustang isn't clue enough. Also that they will do something worthwhile with the Charger, assuming the disappointing sales numbers don't ruin the name forever. I've talked to several people about the '06 "Charger" and not one is excited about it. Most are disappointed. So if we allow DCX to continually slide on this issue they will naturally assume everything is hunky-dory. So, I continue sending them emails once in a while about the '06 "Charger" just to let them know how I feel.  ;)

And so what if the Mustang's interior sux. The reason they are selling is because "It looks the part from the outside" and people want to have a brand new piece of the past without having to restore a classic. The difference is that Ford understands the concept of American nostalgia while the Germans running DCX don't care. My job as a consumer is to make them care. No matter what the product it is our job to offer feedback about products to the companies that produce them. This is not a foreign concept in America. Give up on it if you want but I happen to think it's a worthwhile effort as long as the morons continue to use the Charger name in vain.

Actually I think you have all seen lots of 06 Chargers on the road.  It's just that they are so family sedan looking that they blend in with the rest of the traffic.

There are about two on the road around here now.   The dealerships aren't even hawking them very hard anymore.   They were up front for a while but now are buried in the lineup.
Interestingly, or maybe not, DCX advertising has taken a new twist here.   In Ontario, Canada beer is sold through a nice little monopoly setup formerly known as the Brewer's Retail and now renamed the Beer Store.   Anyway, the carts they supply for you to bring in your empties have a slot in their for advertisers to hawk their wares.   Sure enough, the current ad is a Charger Unleashed one.

And The Beer store and Harvey's are given one away.

I guess that's one way of getting them off of the lot.

I have seen a few on the road. There were 4 at MOPARFest this past weekend, but MOPAR brought 3.

I've seen a TON on car carriers.
I work in Brampton, where they are made, but I live down near the Canada - U.S. border in Niagara. The road I take to work is the main route for the carriers to bring them to the Eastern U.S. The carriers used be load after load of 300's then Magnums, then a mix, then just Chargers, now it's a mix of all three. I didn't see as many single loads of Chargers than I saw of any of the other two. ( I once saw 19 loads of 300s in about a 20 mile drive..)

I have to admit that I am on the fence on this car. If it were called anything else, I'd have no issue with it at all, but I'd probably not have much interest in it either... I would be looking at it or whatever else they had at the end of this year when it's time to hand in the leased Taurtoise. If I had to go out and buy a car for work right now, I'd have a hard time not looking at it as a viable option. I'd just rip off the badges when I got it.

It's a good car - just not a great looker with regards to what it could have been. It's nice enough relative to what's out there.

Back on theme with regards to the butt-monkies at DCX - they've further screwed things up with the packages they put together - R/T, Daytona R/T etc..
They should have left bad enough alone and waited to release the SXT and leave at that. Carry on with the ES and SE stuff they've done with the LH platform. Instead they've gone against the "We won't pay homage to the past" credo and used the names that we associate with the cars of the true muscle era.

69charger2002

you know what, for a while, i was pissed.. but now i'm over it. the car sucks and that is that.. to be honest, if they ever wake up and sell a "retro-charger" of course i'll buy one, but i'm not gonna lose sleep over it. they would never replace my 68-70's anyway.. and truthfully that's probably partly why they are increasing in value so fast(old ones that is). i got my hopes up, they got shot down. it's all good. DCX sucks now.. old school mopar lives forever
