Well my little 318 bore .030 motor is running great-for a 318- and its has headers , intake , holley hp carb and 3.91's in back along with a hot MSD 7 box, so knowing me its time to spend some more cash on it, ha ha. All I can think of now are the heads, was looking at the Edelbrock ones -60779- with 63 cc chambers or the old factory heads off a 340-360 -2531894 x ones or the 3418915 j heads. Eddy tech thought I should have the 60779 's cut .020-.030 to get the compression up. I do not know the brand of the pistons the motor has  just that they are cast with 4 valve reliefs . I know, what the F--- but my motor was in the shop during 9/11/01, it threw a rod the end of August so they just started to work on it when 9/11 happen. Anyways I did not go up there much after that and don't know or cared at that time what they did. Must have did a good job cause its been holding up good, just had to redo the intake gasket a few years ago. Really do not want the new 302 cause they crack to easy and I like the larger ports so I have more intakes to pick from. Not to worry about low rpm power, right now it pulls good from 3000-5300 or so, think it be safe to 5800 rpm's .

I replaced the J heads on my 360 last winter with a set of Edelbrocks.  What a difference. :yesnod:
You can install the same valves in the J heads and work the ports to get the same flow but you still have a less efficient combustion chamber design.  And you'll probably spend about the same money.   Go with the Eddy's
