Al doesn't post much, so maybe I'll chime in here.  He's got a very interesting car there.  When I first met him at a show several years ago, I looked at the vin# and it showed it to be  an XP car.  I figured it was a beautiful RT clone (like mine).  After talking to him, he informed me that the car was, in fact, an original RT and that the factory had screwed-up on the vin#.  Normally I just would have laughed, but the vin# included the 'L' code for the 440 and we all know that only RT's could be had with that engine.  Also, a few years back at one of the old DC.com meets in Kent Wa. Galien Govier (sp?) looked it over and said it should have a luggage rack on it.  That was a pretty rare option in '69 and Al now has one on the car after the re-paint, although it's hard to see in the picture.  It's an original 4 speed Dana 60 car that anyone on this site would die for.  If I had some good pictures of it, I would post them, but it looks like you'll have to wait until he returns from the armpit of the world.   Bob

A silver 4 speed 69 RT?  And Al is serving us overseas?  My hat is off to you for two reasons sir (and one comes with a lot of gratitude).

I repainted the car because it had several problems.  First, the front of the hood was scratched up because a garage door was closed on it.  Second, a nice lady kicked her car door into the fender and put a large paint chip on it.  Third the kind fools that first painted the car, did a crap job patching the lower quarter in the rear and rust was comming on.  With all of this, painting the parts that needed it would require painting almost the whole car.

Another thing was installing the luggage rack.  I wanted to do this as well.  I got a trunk lid that had a rack mounted on it and thought that this would require painting as well.  I found that most trunk lids were already set up for the rack so I just installed it on the one that was on the car.  That silver is not very sparkly.  The color is close to silver sparkle, a dodge truck color.

That's okay, it's still silver and silver is the fastest of all colors you know.
