Richard Petty moves to 2nd place in DCX butt-kissing contest, Iacocca takes lead

It's odd seeing all these Chrysler icons coming out of the woodwork to peddle DCX's wares, especially now that Lee Iacocca has joined the fun by adding his lip prints to some German rear ends. The company seems more confused than ever pairing the 80-year-old former chairman with that ding-a-ling, Snoop Dogg. It seems almost as dopey as putting the name "Charger" on a Magnum sedan, but then that's a separate issue. Still it indicates the weirdness that keeps coming out of the Chrysler propaganda machine. What's next? Sox and Martin doing a rap song? Rusty Wallace driving through the hood in an '06 "Charger" with 50 Cent riding shotgun? Is it all the result of some German advertising executive's two-hour seminar on American pop culture? On a positive note, at least Iacocca is forwarding his proceeds to a charity for kids but I'm still a little peeved that he and his billionaire buddy didn't buy the company when they had the chance. I think things would have been much better right now if they had. Instead, however, he's golfing with a pothead felon who can barely speak English and tyring to get us to buy their reskinned Mercedes Benz autos.

I had to laugh when I saw the first ad with Lee in it. I wondered -"How much are they paying for him?" and "Who is more desparate, Daimler or Lee?"

I saw the Iacocca/Doggy commercial a few days ago & thought it was pretty funny. Celebrities are in the business of selling themselves anyway, so I don't really see it as kissing ass. It's just good marketing by the ad company if it draws in more customers with money. The whole idea of being a celebrity is to be popular with people & get paid for basically doing nothing.

What worries me, is that people actually believe celebrities are endorsing something out of the goodness of their hearts.

I found it funny for the same reason I found the Continental Airlines ad with Joe Torre & Bobby Valentine funny.

The first time I saw that ad I thought that Iacocca must be losing it. Apparently he's gotten over his bitterness for not succeeding in the attempted takeover of Chrysler back in 1995. And I agree with you Bull that the company would probably be better off if he had succeeded.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick & tired of the commercials already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They play them like 6 to 8 times a hour here on tv and have so for the last 3 weeks
