Just a small heads up.  At Carlisle, Layson's Restorations had a tent.  Looking through I came across locking gas caps for 2nd gen Chargers!

Get this, they were only $45!  They looked great in form & function.

I dont see them on their web site though.....give them a call

Wow, that's amazing.  I bought my NOS one years ago @ $75 and we all know their $150 or so now.

Thanks for the tip.

Interesting, I just talked to Dave last week and he never said anything about them, that would be really
hard to reproduce if you ask me wow.

Well our buddy on ebay selling the NOS units for $150 to $200 will not be selling as many as he was, if they
look correct and work well, I would not spend 3-4 time more for his NOS part.

I am assuming they were repros for the price.  They were in small plastic bags with the keys wrapped up in tissue paper.  They were extremely reasonable.....

I'm sad to say this but I tend to get a little smirk on my face when the NOS and/or used junk sellers take it in the shorts via the reproduction market. It's been a long time coming but it's very good to see these hard-to-get Mopar parts coming out of the woodwork now. Not that we're anywhere near the level of the GM guys yet but if the musclecar market stays solid I don't see why we won't someday have one of everything available for our classics. Especially with a Cuda and a Charger at #1 and #2 on the biggest value increasers list.

Does Stant still make those? A year or so ago, you could buy the Stant brand ones for 30 bucks. My NOS one was $25 back in '92 or so.

Does anyone reproduce the trim ring and fuel cap itself for the 69 and 70 Charger?

Not sure who reproduces them but more than one place sells them, Year One for example.

The locking units we are talking about were not available at a parts store, we wish  :o :o  this is the locking cap.

Still can't believe they are making them, what a major deal to make, I may get a couple to see how good they are  :icon_smile_big:
but I will call in the morning first  ;D

Yep that was it...no box though.

I was trying to tell everyone in the class but most said they already had one.   I did meet Marc from the CEMA club stating that he bought one from them.  He took some close up pics of mine to compare.

Just talked to Dave at Laysons, he says they are making them himself  :scratchchin:  interesting, I still can't
believe it, nor did I think he would do them himself but thats what he said. He did not know they were
not on the web site yet, and that $45 for them is not just the show price, its the everyday price. He
is about an hour away from me so I am going to go down there with one of my NOS units and
compare them, I will have to see how well they work as well   ;D

I'm thinking the same thing now. How often am I going to leave the Charger unattended when I'm out with it? probably not much. The wife said a while back "it will be nice to go out on a date night to the movies with the Charger" I told no way am I leaving the Charger on a parking lot full of high school kids or anyone for that matter on a friday night unattended!! NO EFFING WAY!! too much blood and sweat to have a punk do something to the Charger and me ending up behind bars!  :rotz:

At Carlisle, if I was at the car for more than 1 hour at a time it was a lot.......it was unattended in the hotel parking lot......

$45 well spent IMHO

My friend left his Chevelle outside at the hotel we were at one night. Went to leave the next morning for the car
show, the car ran like crap, some jerk put sugar in his gas tank. it only takes a few seconds to pop the cap and dump
some sugar in, Both of us missed the car show  :flame:

I will be leaving my gas locks in at all times, mine work very easy, and there is to much BS going on out there these days.

I've got 2 factory ones and the only thing I had to do is put  a few drops of oil in the key slot cause they turn hard without it.
