The conspiracy stuff about 100-mpg cars cracks me up.

If an easy carb-swap or something could really get 100 mpg from a 1970s-era autmobile, then it would also make it possible to get a couple thousand horsepower and still keep the stock gas mileage.

So, has the entire auto-racing and hot-rodding world ALL been hushed up?  Does everyone stop at a certain E.T. with their drag cars, because the black helicopters would come for them if they ever crack a 6.00 in public or something?

If there was any easy way to get tons more power out of an old automible motor, then WE are the most likely people on the planet to have found it.

Quotejust paid $80 to fill my duallys tank and that was regular.

Lucky you!!!!!!  Here in Norway it costs app 350 usd to fill up my dually, and that is diesel :brickwall:
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

don't like e85....no guts, horrible mileage...raises corn prices, thereby starving mexicans...i feel gasoline is the most practical fuel for portable power (as in cars), nuclear for generating electricity, coal for steel furnaces and other large heat uses...and, until someone invents a "miracle" battery for electric cars, we should find and use as much american oil as possible, and politically thwart OPEC and the desert bandits that have been robbing the world for the last thirty years... :Twocents:

oh, and by the way, i prefer JIF peanut butter...after all, choosey mothers choose Jif...and everyone knows that MoPar afficienados are a bunch of choosey mothers!  :icon_smile_big:

Well, here's how I see it - based on the facts i could readily find on the internet:

E85 is about $1.90 per gallon
The government picks up an additional cost of about 60 ¢ - (which means that I as a tax payer have been paying for E85 all along)
E85 will decrease mileage by about 30% - (which means I will be filling up more often - IF I can find E85)
Factor in the 30% decrease in mileage and E85 costs about the EXACT same amount as gasoline for the same amount of miles driven
ALSO, E85 is more expensive to produce and takes more energy to produce than gasoline. Hmmmm, what a GREAT solution :rotz:

Yes, my Silverado is a flex vehicle - NO, I will not take advantage of the great hassles and inconveniences that using E85 will create for me....

Ever heard of peak oil? ethanol is supposed to ease that, not save the environment or inconvenience you.
