Non remote exterior mirror tension

Is there a way to tighten up the mirror to the mounting pedestal on these things?

if you remove the mirror the are two screws in side the housing that should tighten up.

actually i forgot to ask what year and style mirror some are different.

For a 69 passenger side outside mirror, non remote.  Just the plain round one on the single pedestal base.

sorry I gave you info for later model mirror, on that look behind the mirror and there should be a phillips head screw, try tightening that.

So I'm looking at glass replacement, correct?  Because the mirror is glued into the housing is it not?

is the mirror loose or is it the whole housing that moves on the ball end?

No, not the glass.  As you describe, the housing is freewheeling around the ball.

you may have to remove the glass somehow, I was looking at the mirrors on my 68 RR and they have a screw on the back for adjustment. I would have to see it.
