68-70 charger projects vs.AMC Machine?

What should somebody expect to pay for a 2nd generation charger project-Basket cases to complete cars.Are 68s,69's or 70's any better than one another if you are looking for a good deal?I know of some in the $4000 to $7000 range-but they still need quite a bit of work.I may even consider buying a 70 rebel machine I know of because it's ready to drive and can get into that for the same price as 68-70 project car needing work. The Machine is ready to go. What do you guys think of 70 rebel machines?I am not a fan of amx's,javelins,or other amc cars,but I think those 70 machines are pretty neat.

I have always liked Rebel machines, I think AMC's underappreciated, I think the AMX's were awesome.

yes they are really cool with a hood tach built into the hood scoop as i recall,.
But, don't be suprised if somefolks try to hail your Taxi...

I think AMC Rebel machines are some of the coolest non Mopars out there, and for sure the coolest AMCs. If you can latch onto a decent example of one, do it. The downside is, you think old Mopar parts are hard to come by, y'aint seen nothin yet! Still, a very nice looking "Machine" love the red, white and blue, always have....

Theres been a black rebel machine in the area here for a long time. Never got a chance to talk to the guy but I love those cars along with the earlier AMXs myself. If you could pick it up now for a good price and its ready to go you would be way ahead of the game down the road. I think there time will come. I would jump on it.

Rebel Machines are awesome. My buddy just got one last year and he loves it. It was originally blue w/ 4spd and A/C. Pretty rare car when you break down the colors. It was painted red white and blue when he bought it, and to be honest...if he went back to blue it would just be another car at the cruise. The attention this car gets in it's current state is amazing.

A top shelf Machine could probably sell in the mid to high 30's. 

ps- Did you guys know that the trim rings are spot welded to the wheels? Pretty odd idea, but it was AMC.

Wait, so your saying you know of a "ready to go" Rebel Machine in the $4000 to $7000 price range? And you had to ask for internet opinions before buying it?

In ready to go I mean runs and drives and is presentable,but by no means a show car. It has some wear and on a scale of 1 to 10(1 basketcase-10 show car),I'd say it's in the 6-7 range.In the $8000-$9000 range.

If you can verify it is, I would jump on it!

I don't know how many they built-5500? but a 68-70 Charger is everywere in comparison.

I agree.  I respect them and like them for what they are but I cannot fathom comparing them to a 2nd gen Charger.

I love the Rebel Machines!  I'd love to have one someday.  Given the choice between a major project Charger or a complete, driver condition Rebel Machine, I'd take the Machine!

I used to really be into AMC's. They sure don't come close to a Charger in my eyes, but that's just me. There is an AMX around here that I think is pretty cool.

Well I paid $400 for my basket case 69 Charger and I can buy a fixer-upper 69 RT for $4000. And also, I like AMXs too!

As far as welcoming them to the family, I welcome them but it's more in the way that you would welcome an adult stepcousin (I know, there's no such thing, but there is really).  If they're good, they are welcome to sit and eat at the table with the kids from Uncle Neds first marriage but at the end of the day, you have no long history with them and don't know them so what are they to you really?
