Is the Coil Damaged??

This weekened I think I screwed up the MSD Balster 3 coil I got with my Charger. I painted the coil black to disguise the red trademark appearance of the MSD coil and hung the coil from a wire in my garage. I went out to my kids soccer tournament and when I came back, I did'nt see the coil hanging where I left it!! I then saw that it was on the ground. I picked it up and saw that it had two pretty good dents. No oil drips or anything, just two good indentations. MF!! :flame: The coil dropped from a height of 6' +/-. From what I've read, it's a pretty good coil with the long center stem. :brickwall: I could'nt blame my dog cause it was too high for him to reach!

Is the coil ruined? Is there a check I can run through it? Are these coils pretty strong to take a hit like that? I could install it in a way that you would'nt see the dents.

I know they are not expensive and I'm leaning on just buying a new one and forgetting about it.....comments welcomed from the experts if I should discard it or is it still usable?

I think it will still be useable.   Its only wire windings inside....no fragile electronic parts.
Just as long as the tower isnt cracked & no oil leaks I think you should be fine

If the outer casing hits these wire windings it should still be ok, right? Any test I could perform/run through the coil to makesure it's ok? thanks

Call MSD # 915-855-7123 they will know what you should do. They are very nice, my one spark plug wire boot touch the header and was leaking only when the motor was hot, must have call them 3-4 times try to solve it, after we did they-MSD tech- mail me two wires for free cause it should have been ok even if they touch-not sure about that. Anyways call them up those tech guys are great.

Thanks for the phone number!! I called their tech center and spoke with Joe at the center and he said exactly what Chris (Just 6T9) posted. It should'nt be an issue, just a cosmetic one. He gave me two tests to conduct by running a continuity current with an ohms meter. From the + to - terminals should read .7 ohms. From center plug to + should read 5000 ohms. Thanks guys for the valuable feedback!! :yesnod:
