I don't have the factory jack for my Charger. I prefer to use the hydraulic floor jack style, but do not like the idea of it rolling around in my trunk. What are you non-stock jack users carrying around? Any tips on how to secure a floor jack in the trunk?

Bottle jack, which isnt to offen I have AAA road service and would just get tow home or the tire shop which has not happen yet. I also carry a tire inflater in a can that stuff will get you to a gas station with a air hose.

Blue Pentastar

Buy one of the small floor style jacks in a carry case. At least it won't role around.

Hmmmm, I have a Ford Jack here. Maybe I should throw that in. Thanks for the tip! I have never needed to change a tire, but I worry about what I will do if I ever did. I have AAA, but the one time I used them (on a regular car) it took 3 hours to get a truck to come help me.

You guys are chickens  ;D , don't you like lifting the car on the side of the road with the original
jack base in the dirt, the car leaning over at an angle, and wonder the hole time going, UMMM,
I hope this thing does not fall on me  :nana:  I used mine so many times I can't believe it, I
really can't believe it never fell over either  :ahum:

Wow ,they got to me in 30-45 mins. unless its a bad storm outside but I never call them then. Don;t forgot the can tire inflator, its been my best friend sometimes, it gets enough air in the tire to drive it a mile or two to a a air hose, I have one in every car.

lol..If I had the original jack, I wouldn't worry. However, the pervious owner took the jack and sold it seperately. I hope he had a good time on that $60.

8WHEELER

I bet he got a lot more than that. I see jacks sell for $300 to $400 all the time.......

I saw it sell on his completed items eBay page 2 years ago. It went for $60. But it was poorly photographed as well. What gets me is when I bought the car he said he would send the jack as well as the other missing pieces to me. A week later they were on eBay.

I hate bottle jacks due to their unsafe construction, but they are nice and tiny.  I thought about welding a short and wide U to the top of a bottle jack that's just the right width of a frame rail and keeping that in my trunk.   Thoughts?

I use a block of wood, just a inch thick or so. All you need is to get the one tire off the ground. I would never get under it, worst thing could happen is the car would fell a short ways, no biggie. In back I lift the leaf spring, in front the control arm or frame on the bad side. I would never lift half the car up, thats for floor jacks.

Thanks guys.

I actually had a car fall off the factory bumper jack before, more like roll forward off the jack.  It was my first 73 Charger back when I was in high school.  I guess the parking brake didnt work as well as I thought it did.  I do have a bumper jack for my 73 now but it will never get used, not because im afraid of it fallig off, I just dont like the idea of jacking my Charger up from the bumpers.
