WELL WENT OUT TO START THE 72 RALLYE TODAY THE BATTERY WAS DEAD SO I JUMPED IT.  IT STARTED SEEMED TO BE OK FOR ABOUT 1/2 MILE THEN WOULD STALL TOOK ABOUT 3 JUMPS TO GET IT HOME ANYWAY AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE DRIVE WAY I NOTICED A TRAIL OF GAS THERE IS AN ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP NOT SURE IF IT WAS STOCK OR IF SOMEONE ADDED IT .THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT I COULD THINK OF THAT WOULD CAUSE BOTH PROBLEMS IF ITS NOT STOCK I AM NOT GOING TO REPLACE IT ANY ONE KNOW  :shruggy: :ahum: :smilie_help:

71 RT

It is not going to be a factory installed item, it had to have been added at soem point.  The other things that come to mind tht COULD be a problem...
1.  How about a faulty electronic ignition box?
2.  Fuel filter clogged?
3.  A break or crack in a fuel line?
4.  Really bad gas?
5.  (A really long shot)  A faulty ignition switch.

Just some thoughts, I sure otheres will come up with other things  Maybe one of these could help!

71 R/T is correct. The electric fuel pump is after market. As mentioned check for the obvious first, a crack or split in the fuel line.

Yes but remember it is 34 years old, or the fuel pump is draining the battery and leaking too.

Are you sure the battery is charging? When its ruining whats the voltage, it should be over 13- 14.5 or so is what I have. If it is you have a short somewhere draining  it, if its not charging well thats it.

TylerCharger69

:iagree:      definately a charging system issue.
