Paint removal with air compressor spray gun?

I was just thinking about useless information my brain has piled in it, and it hit me, why use sand or some other type of media if you could use water...yeah thats right water.  The closer to the nozzle on a spray gun you get the higher the pressure of the water coming out.  Just thought this sounded like something to try, you could go over an area with thinner, or even spray it out of the gun instead of water.

Because you would end up with wet bare metal and it would rust on you in no time.


There is a sand blaster type of unit out there that shoots a water/sand mxture. It works good on heavy steel pieces such as frames and stuff like that. Stuff you could get away with a not so smooth finish or something that you could put a POR paint over some slight rust and not worry.   If you are looking for smooth finish like a car body you would have rust in no time.
