Paint pros, how much time do you have to paint once sealer has been applied and what do you do if you have exceeded that time frame? Thanks in advance.

some types of sealer you can paint straight over with 2 pack and it will harden completely in a day or so & dependent on how thick it is. some sealers have a window time any were between  6 to 36 hours in witch they  must be painted or the sealer will require flatting and re sealing . because the fresh paint will flake off . what i use to do is , when i finished sealing up a car and there was no time to paint it that day, i would grab the closest matching 2 pack tinter to the car off the mixing scheme and with the gun on jet ( low pressure) just put a couple of coats on the sealer 5 second job. then all that is required when you go to apply the top coat next day or a week after is a quick  scotchbrite ( red) of the sealer.

Usually 24 hours. But like was mentioned. It depends on the sealer. PPG's DPLF can go as long as a week. But I would not recomend it. If it sits more then 24 hrs. You can scuff it with a red scuff pad. But if it where me I would wet sand with 400 grit. This will do 2 things. It will reopen the primmer so the top layer will stick and if your shooting white or white that has been tinted. It will smooth out the little nubs that all white sealer has in it. This is very important thing to do if you plan on color sanding the car after its been painted.
