Dukefest does it again...  No matter how rusty, there is no excuse...  But if I were there, my kid would've gone bonkers...  I hope that thing was Useless...

Is/was there a stuntdriver in there or was in on cables?  I cant tell from here, my screen at work sucks! :yesnod:

Corey Eubanks jumped it. There is a post on the confederate board saying he hurt his back in the jump and has been in some pain.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to say this... I wish Ben Jones would just die. Pretty soon there will be no decent '69 parts cars left, and they will start buying good nice restored cars to jump and destroy. And after there are no more '69 Chargers left to destroy, they will start on the other years of Chargers. All he is doing is showing the younger generation of people and kids how to destroy a cool car and make money, and it will never end. This is just plain sickening.  :flame:

Wow.  You do realize this would still happen whether or not Ben Jones was alive, right?  Who knows the fate of this car, it may get restored, or it may be parted out.  There's always so much speculation about these things.  But someone thought it was worth 16 thousand dollars.

We've hashed out the whole subject before.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For what it's worth, the entire "Dukesfest" event & stunt show left a lot of pissed-off car owners who won't be coming back without some serious changes next year.  The stunt crew wasn't entirely happy with the circumstances of the whole thing either, not to mention Corey hurting his back on the huge jump.

If they wanna do this again next year, they're gonna have to pay a lot more money for the stunts and do a lot more special accomodations/favors for the GL owners.

As Rosco P. Coltrane would say -that was a horrendous crash. Why don't they use a 2006 charger next year , that I would like to see, wonder how many pieces it would be in afterwards

Hasn't that started happening all ready? I remember an ebay ad for a restored '69 Charger that was a real R/T and painted as a GL. The auction though was for the car AFTER it was jumped. Anyone else remember this auction? You would bid on the car, and then after it was jumped, you'd get the remains.

The stunt crew actually didn't supply the Charger that time.  That was an exception.

The shop owner funding that jump specifically wanted his own (R/T 4spd) GL jumped, and he wasn't willing to substitute another Charger in its place.  The car had some credentials as an old Warner Bros publicity car, and the shop owner felt that made it more of a "real" General Lee that way.  (Friggin' Moron!)

Believe me, the stunt guys would much rather have substitued another Charger of their own that time.  Less guilt.  They also could have made a little bit more money on the operation by supplying their own Charger while they were at it.  But the shop owner is a millionaire and nobody can tell him what to do with his own Charger.  He owned the car, he wanted it jumped, and he was gonna get it jumped one way or another.

it did sound good though when Cory put his foot in it coming out of turn four .

I am sure if you really wanted him dead, you could track him down and kill him!

Wakko

The car was a real R/T and not in bad shape at all.

Didn't the real R/T jumped before nose dive.

Is the one in the pic the Dukefest car? That was not another R/T was it?

Yes, the Dukesfest '06 car was a real RT and landed flat like a pancake, injuring the driver.   The Hardcore Racing General (R/T TrakPak car) landed nose first (like the stunt guys like it) and is in MUCH worse "after" shape than the DF car.  LAST year's DF car was in horrible shape and was cremated during the jump (but reportedly rebuilt since then) and the MTV Jump car was rebuilt and is used as a display piece.

That's what one of the stunt guys told me.  They bought it for 12k or some ridiculous figure and are piecing it toghether.  I could understand if it were a real GL or something, but just some jumped car?  JUNK!!!

Hey they can always sell it on e-bay- some sucker would buy it.

They sure got their money out of the car's rollcage last year.

The caged area of the cab was literally the only part of the car between the front & rear bumpers that was still standing when the smoke cleared.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know why the hell anybody would wanna rebuild that thing, but I guess it's their money.

I love "real General Lees" as much as anybody, but even I don't want one bad enough to straighten out a crushed wreck like that.  I'd have a hard time justifying putting that much resto work into a real TV-series car, much less one that Ben Jones had built in the 1990s and then they jumped last summer.

Judhudson

I look at it this way - if they have the money and are willing to put it back together (and I mean rebuild most or the whole car), it just means there is one extra dodge charger in the world for someone to get someday. :)

Ghoste

I don't care what anyone says, I still think it's stupid.  Even if a million people pay a dollar to watch, it still isn't right.  We all get an opinion and it's a free country, but...
