Cold is keeping me out of the garage. New garage needs to be comfy.

I have a non insulate 24x32 detached garage, with a loft above it. We haven't been above freezing in several weeks and we're looking at single digits next week. I have been able to do a few wuick and easy jobs but to stay in that freezer for more than 20 minutes really takes the fun out of the hobby!

I now have a second building in the making. 32x48x14. Insulation will be done bit by bit, but I am installing radiant floor heating. I don't need it to be 70 in there, but if I can keep it above 50 I'll be happy. Anyone else have in floor heating?

California here. Compared to you guys in snow zones, we are wimps.
I was out in the shop today, it was maybe 59 inside. Once the sun went down, the temps only fell 5 degrees but it seemed  like a lot more.
I hate the cold and I hate the extreme heat. I like the doors to be open so no matter what, I'm dealing with the elements. In the Summer I can handle it if it gets no higher than 104-105. In the Winter, I can deal with it if it is above 40 but not if it is cloudy. The overcast skies have a psychological effect, making me want to just go inside and bundle up.
I applaud you for toughing it out as long as you have...
Oh, I have no heat or A/C in my shop. I could have installed it but again, I like keeping the doors open so I have  a clear view of the yard and the driveway in.

Sometimes I envy you guys in the warmer parts of the country, but not by much.
I have my doors open throughout spring, summer, and fall as well. I built the new garage to have a view over the whole yard, and give me a view of the driveway from behind the old garage. With winter basically taking away any outside projects, I could spend much more time in the garage and get things done. And I'm looking forward to it. I have a lot of cars to finish!
And you need a SAD lamp buddy, they're awesome!

Looking great! You are going to be living in there! I live in MA and its about 15 degrees outside right now. Radiant heat flooring is going to be great and will warm you up just fine. Never had experience with it in a garage but have seen it installed in friends homes and its wonderful underfoot.

I completely insulated my garage as well, it is well worth the effort and money spent. R13 in the walls and R36 in the ceiling.  I heat the garage with a large wood pellet stove that will get the shop close to 70 degrees in even the coldest days so I think you will be just fine.

looking forward to the progress on this, please post some pics!

We used to milk cows and when I built our milking parlour I installed the in floor heating for the parlour floor where I stood when milking the cows
It was the only heat we had in the room
It was great
You could come in from out side with your feet frozen cold but look forward to standing on the warm floor
We had an 80 gallon hot water tank and a pump in the system with a thermostat on it
The water was always moving when we turned it on for the winter till spring and the thermostat would just open and let the water go through the hot water tank till the floor out going water got up to temp again
