Bending fuel lines

Has anyone bent 3/8" fuel lines? I have aftermarket fuel lines and would like to bend the ends in the engine bay so the lines go up. Before I buy a tube bender I figured I ask if anyone ever tried. Maybe the material is too rigid.

Hell yeah....
You need a bender to make any custom line. You should be able to find them at a NAPA auto parts store.

 dont even think about doing this job with out a good quality tube bender, also a tube flaring tool, also stainless tube / pipe hard line , is harder material &  requires good quality tools especially to  put a double flare on the ends. summit sell 25 feet coils of hard line in 3/8" & 5/16" or use to . in plain steel or stainless  for a really good price, plenty to practice with if your doing something more complicated than factory OEM   ( ask me how i know          )

 if your buying coils of hard line  , you need to buy a tube straightner too  especially if your putting flare nuts & flaring the ends

I have 2 Right Stuff repro fuel lines. I want to bend them where the firewall starts and run them straight up so I can transition them to flex hose to go to the fuel injection rails

All my fuel line is 3/8. 

I've done custom bent lines from the filter up the carburetor with both steel and aluminum.

Take your time. A really good trick is to take a spare piece of tube.  Make an "L" or 90* with aprrox 2-3" legs. Before you remove the piece from your bender , take a marker and mark where anchor point of the bender sits in relation to the tube.

You can now take your 90* elbow, hold it in position next to the line you want to bend and copy the mark you made onto your new line.  That mark you will now tell you exactly where to put your new line in the bender and start the bend.

Just a tip, I use bailing wire or a coat hanger to form the bends and get the correct length and then transfer the bends to your new lines.

I like the idea of the hangar or bailing wire.  I often use refrigerator tubing to mock up. A good quality bending tool is also important, and I like that video.

Thanks guys! Change of plans. I no longer need to bend the fuel lines. Turns out the alternative plan actually works out better. But I still need to make custom brake lines! I will definitely use the wire trick!

I use an old wire coat hanger for mocking up and then make all my own brake,fuel and transmission lines all the time.
