I was told by a former dealer, that you could order an SE, and as option(s) if you knew which boxes to check, order the hood and all stripes separately. It could be done.

You could get either an SE MODEL as a premiun class price car ( VIN WP29 ) or a Rallye PACKAGE on a Coupe ( WL21 ) or Hardtop ( WH23 ) which are low and high class pirce cars.

You could either get JUS BY 73 an SE with roll down quarter windows, and still will be a WP29 on VIN.

By 74 you could get an SE with Rallye stripes ( red gradated and gold gradated as far I recall ) and the roll down quarter glass was not available anymore.

NOW, I guess having the money, a dealer would accept anything. With MaMopar we never now, but will need to be documented and prooved nowdays.

What I love about those stories is no one clarifies the details.

1) Ok, which boxes on the order form do I check? What if there isn't a box to check?
2) Ok, how do we get around factory ordering guidelines? Will the district, regional or factory office kick this back? Why would Chrysler let me do this in violation of assembly, product and marketing guidelines?
3) How will the cost for the out of package items be invoiced and listed on the window sticker? Or are we doing this so I get the stuff for free?
4) Do any of these 'you can get it if you knew the right people' items violate any federal safety or emissions statutes in place at the time or affect factory warranty?
