Hi, anyone know the trick or a easier way to remove the rubber bushing on the front eye of the leaf spring? I had been hammering and hammering and didn't move it a bit, I was trying to hammer the inner metal piece out and replace to poly bushing. Thanks.

Hi,
Just did mine last week, I cut the rubber flush to the eye with a craft knife then used a punch to drive out the inner steel sleeve, once that was out the rubber was easy to get out. The outer steel sleeve was a it harder, had to use a chisel and split it, managed to get my thumb in the way too, still hurts !

Thanks, 68RT, don't know why I was trying to save the rubber bushing, it is new. But with the new poly bushing, there's no need for the rubber piece. I'll start cutting them, and hope your thumb feel better soon.

the new bushing was so tight, cutting the top wasn't enough. After using about 6 drill bits and screw driver to pry the rubber out, finally got it out. Thanks again 68RT.

I see you have already got it out but one other way to get it out, which works for me, is to start the rubber on fire and burn out the rubber, it makes kind of a mess and there's alot of smoke but it usually works pretty good.

believe me, I almost went with the torch. but I was afraid my neighbor would call the fire department AGAIN. Last time she called the fire depart. because my other neighbor was cooking and created a little smoke.
