Looking to restore some of the black color to my old faded grille. Anyone have a meguiars/mother's/chemical guys etc product they like for this?
Thanks!
Please excuse the bad pic, but this should give you an idea as to what state it's in.

Thanks!

Have you tried some OCD elbow grease?
A good soaker with the garden hose.
Keep wet for 5 mins with moderate strength Simple Green.
Gentle tip pressure washer.

Might give you acceptable cleanliness without a full blown grill resto.

That's a good call, thanks.

Yeah, I think I'll start with that then give this Lithium trim serum a try. People online says it works wonders on faded black plastic. Will keep everyone updated.

I'll 2nd some simple green and elbow grease. Just mix up some simple green in spray bottle, spray everything and let it soak for a bit then work all the nooks/crannies with a stiff bristled brush and rinse, I think you'll be surprised how much that will bring it back. Just be careful with the fragile sections, remember this is 50+ year old plastic and tends to be very brittle.

If you still think there's room for improvement after the wash, I've had good luck with a 50/50 mix of paint thinner and boiled linseed oil to restore black plastic. If you go this route TEST it on an inconspicuous area as I'm not sure how it will react with the painted sections, I've only ever used this method on straight black plastic. This came from one of my other cars, an old BMW E30: https://bimmertips.com/renew-faded-bmw-plastic-trim-without-paint/ those cars have a lot of ABS plastic parts that fade out and someone figured out the paint thinner/linseed oil recipe to avoid having to repaint everything.

sounds good, thanks Dano!
Yup, I'll keep you posted Blakemon.
I plan on cleaning the grille this weekend with Simple Green like people have suggested then apply the Lithium Trim Serum next week when it arrives.
