What do you think of a Edelbrock/Carter AVS2 650 on my stock 383 HP?

My stock carb is leaking again, it is the original 490 CFM facotry carb been rebuilt 4 time since I owned the car 22 years.

What would you think of putting this Edelbrock/Carter AVS2 650 on the car? Some reviews said it flowed more like a 600. The engine is a 68 383 HP with electronic ignition and stock other than that. The heads were rebuilt last winter to stock specs.

Would it be too much for the stock 383? Would I see improved performance and reliability?

Would it fit  with minimal mods to the factory hardware set up?

Thanks!

Not compatible with fuels containing alcohol? Linkage may costly to swap.  :scratchchin:

I think the alcohol restriction refers to pure alky or E85, up to 10% ethanol doesn't seem to harm them. The instructions refer to blended fuels (gasohol) only affecting the mixture.

Using the correct Mopar throttle lever extension (#1481) takes care of the linkage problem(s).
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I'e had 650 and 750 Edelbrocks on my last '70, and current '70 and '72 (400) I've been happy, though my prime concern is driveability not raw performance.

I have heard all good about the AVS2. When choosing a carb for a street vehicle smaller is better. Better throttle response, better mileage. The 383 should do well with the 650.
