Just what is inside 2nd gen hood to hold hinge bolts?

 I've got a bolt not holding tight on my hood. The passenger side rearmost bolt holding the hinge to the hood. I'm thinking of using a hole saw to gain access through the hood sub frame to install a grade 8 nut.  :scratchchin:  I'd greatly appreciate any info on exactly what/how is going on inside there.
