sure needs to get sanded and polished yet... But that will be way later. I'm in Spain and my car in Venezuela yet. With the COVID stuff I won't be able to travel to Venezuela to reassembly it anytime soon.

So car is still in Venezuela? looks good. A trusted friend/family member looking after it for you?

Is that original color??

Nacho-RT74

The car is in San Cristobal a city close to Colombian border. I lived in Caracas, which is a thousand miles away. I used to go to check it every time I could untill the project got somehow stuck on some stage ( by the shop responsibility, not mine ). I wasn't to waste my time traveling to see no advance. I has been pushing by phone.

Is on a good friend of mine hands. The shop owner ( also painter and body guy with a couple of employees) is from the Classic car community in Vzla ( the family got a 30s Buick, 58 4 doors Ht Olds, a 30s Citroën you can see it reflected on my car, also a 40s BMW, 92 T top Firebird and the most valuable, a Mercedes "Ponton" Convertible ) and was a Charger Owner, ( reason why we met ).

I think a bit of the friendship relation has been part of the long delay. He made me a good price, so allways it gets a daily car to work on it mine was took apart for later. But he has been also working on my car with passion. It seems not, but A LOT of sheetmetal has been worked.

I hope won't find parts broken or missed when time come to reassembly.

About the color, yes... that's factory color, although this time wasn't made by color chart, but just taking the quarter extensions to the paint shop and make it based on that. The color my car had before this job ( the same of my avatar and my signature threads ) and of course the extensions was made by chart anyway, an original color chips chart from Chrysler of Venezuela 1974 a paint shop still had on their files. I guess there is a chance it could be not a 100% factory color match, but at this moment and after 7,5 years I don't care, but just get it finished.

By some pics he sent me I think it looks a bit more "greenish" down the sun light than I really like, but it is what it is and I won't stop on this anymore. If you note some of the pics on my signature threads link, depending on light the color could take a violet shade or green shade. Dunno why when some watchman took description of my car on their notebook entering on private urbanizations allways asked me "is that green or blue"? Damn, is NOTICEABLE BLUE, still with some "greenish" shades is still BLUE!

I guess also after the wetsand and buffing, some of the color shade could change, along with some of the minimal orange peel finish got.

The color code posted on my VIN plate ( color in Vzla assembled cars is on a VIN plate, not on Fender tags because we didn't get fender tags ) is FB9.... it should be something like B9 in USA :shruggy: but B9 in USA is as far I found GB9 not FB9, and was used just for C bodies.

Good to see it making headway Nacho!  Kind of looks like it has a "pearl" effect with the violet hue.   Im very glad for you!  Hope you can post more progress soon!

I think it got more metal than I wished, hence that effect.

If you get me a pass next time I'm in Cartagena, I'll zip over and check on it for you!

Nacho-RT74

Cartagena in Colombia must be around 800 miles away from San Cristobal ( and mostly sure with bad conditions roads )... that's insane LOL.

aside, Borders between Vzla and Colombia are closed.

Oh, well on a map it doesn't look too far. Ok I withdraw my offer :-)

Nacho-RT74

Of course was a nice offer and really appreciate it.

Venezuela and Colombia are about the size of Texas each one. So you can figure it out ;). Cartagena and San Cristobal is a diagonal travel. And there is not a straight road, lot of mountains ( Los Andes Mountain rage ) specially getting to the border so will get lot of curves without highways. On a straight line maybe there are 550-600 miles, but throught the curves and stuff I don't think less than 700-750.

Caracas-San Cristobal trip took me allmost 13-14 hours with my Charger. 2/3 parts of the trip was through highways and wide roads and took me around half of the time, but the last 1/3 section of the trip was a headache! Nice views but lot of trucks on a small and mostly bad conditions road.

Once again REALLY appreciate the offer!
