there was a guy that told me that I can run my car without resistor that is on firewall. He said he used to do it back in the days. Just plugging two wires together straight through.  ??? ??? ???

when the keys in the crank postion thats whats happening, it bypasses the resistor because voltage drops when cranking and the motor not running. How long will the spark box last before it burns up I don't know, might be 1,000-30,000 miles or more. If you really want to get rid of that resistor for a stronger spark why not get a aftermarket system like MSD? Crane and others have good  stuff also. The only reason it has that is it WAS the best at that time. Now its 35 years later and this new stuff is much better. It does cost a lot more at least when you start getting in to the MSD 7 series, but it works fine on the street too if its got the right coil and its not the digital models. I had a 6 series for 8 years and was happy but now that I have a 7 al I would only go back if I had a lack of money. I can feel the difference even when just idling and it runs the same now everyday , every time even when its 35 degrees one day and 75 a few days later. Not to say MSD 6al a is no good just the 7 al is better yet. Never try ed crane so I don't know how it is, sounds good.
