"Mad Max is a 1979 Australian action film directed by George Miller. Written by Miller and James McCausland from a story by Miller and producer Byron Kennedy, set between 1983 and 1985, a few years after the 1973 oil crisis. It tells a story of societal breakdown, murder, and revenge."
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

It looks like the shot of Mel Gibson pictured in the first post is actually of the Road Warrior. That was supposed to take place approx 10 years after the first movie SO 1993-94 was the era...

The continuity/timeline of the Mad Max movies has always been messy.  George Miller (writer/director) never put a high priority on it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Max shows up in another movie driving his XB Falcon again.

Look at 'Fast & Furious' - they've stopped trying to explain how Vin Diesel keeps getting that Charger fixed.  How does he even retrieve the wreck from these foreign countries & situations while he is on the run from police and govt agencies and criminal masterminds?
