69 Charger headlight door question

Hello, question for those that can offer some insight.

The drivers side headlight door has at times when used, fell off of the outer hinge pin (proper term? not sure).

Question is, should I try to bend the metal bracket that holds that pin inwards for more protrusion or is it supposed to have an internally toothed clip pushed onto it?

There is a push on clip that normally holds it on there. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow and post it up.
