Not sure if this pic has been posted yet (not going to go through 23 pages looking) but I found it here: https://www.facebook.com/#!/bracketracing
Great pic Bull.I have a 70 R/T though it is nowhere near getting to the road I have discussed engines at length with an engine builder and he always shys away from Hemi's to make power as he says that 440's make heaps more power.

Thing I wondering is what sort of power were thay getting from the hemi in the day.I mean the Buddy car was a hemi wasn't it and 200+ MPH is nothing to sneeze at.My mate has an old clunker with a hemi and a freshen up saw it make 480 FWHP with just a few tweaks here and there.

Bottom one is another one of it running against hometown hero Barry Poole.

There's a discussion about this car on the "Dandy Dick Landy" Tribute page on facebook. People are speculating whether we are doing what we should with it. In particular, why we didn't buy the engine from Tony. We want to respond to them, but we have a strong loyalty to DC.com, so what ever we have to say about the car, we want to say it here first. We don't know Tony well and would not want to offend him, but we would like to let everyone know why we chose not to buy the complete engine.
As I recall, the only parts of this engine which were original to the Dick Landy engine, were the cracked block, the intake, headers and the oil pan. He was going to throw in some generic used parts to make an almost complete engine. It was not as if this was a complete, original assembled engine we could drop into the car. Some say he may have had a lot into the engine, but I doubt he paid much for what was left of the original engine. As I also recall, he was asking $20,000 for it. We did buy the intake. And there's still more to this story.
Some are also saying that the car should go to someone who could afford to do a proper restoration. We can afford to do what ever we decide should be done with the car. Having little free time to devote to the car is a hinderance, money is not. We still cannot decide how much to restore and how much to leave original. Again, we have our sights set on Carlisle next year.  :-\ We want to get the car running and stopping before we take it anywhere again. We are tired of pushing this thing everywhere. And before too long, we want to build and install the hemi, which we bought years before we even bought the car.

How many drag cars have the original block? I wouldn't pay stupid money for a block that may not even be able to be saved. You got the intake so I would just build the HEMI you have. Let the people that think they know best play keyboard circle jerk with each other.
If it was mine I would have the HEMI built you own and try and find similar pieces Landy used for the remaining parts. The body would stay as is IMO as once it is restored it just wouldn't be the same.
