Doesn't look too bad for $25,000... then again, I'm a newbie, so maybe I'm wrong.

The car appears to be a solid project, but it needs to be inspected in person before parting with your money.  It helps to know the areas that are common for rust on second generation Chargers too. The car appears to be a 70 Charger R /T,but I would check out the VIN numbers and fender tag to see how the car came from the factory and which options were on the car when it was built.  Body stampings as well as stampings on the engine and transmission should be checked as well.  If a factory buildsheet is available it will tell you the exact components the car was assembled with when it was built. In 1970 Chargers the buildsheet is usually found in the underside of the rear seat. The overall condition of the car, and wether the numbers of the body and drive line match the VIN sequence numbers, will determine if the car is worth the asking price.

Strange that the youtube channel does not provide website information.  I looked them up and did not see the car on their website inventory.  Could be sold - who knows.  Just odd that it is not on youtube so you cannot look at other photos of the car to better understand the car's condition.

I agree. An in person look at is critical.  A few things caught my eye that make think this is important.  The wheels and tires look in better condition than the car. The tail panel isn't blacked out.  There could be plenty of other things to look at and assess.  It is fine if some things are on there for selling, but you want to know about those.  I don't know what your situation is for restorations, but you are talking a lot to get that back into shape even if it is very solid.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Definitely one for the Delusional thread! Most of the lower half of the car is scrap..along with most of the interior.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

Well this (green) car didn't fare well, if your not stuck on a 70, got a complete 69 S.E. if your interested.

Looks like a P.O.S. I'd say about $10k more Realistic, it's about $15k to much :shruggy:

Looks like a relatively easy restoration project to me, assuming you have the skills.

I do think it's a 12-15k car, tops. 25k is dealer markup price.

However I'm not at all shocked to see ANOTHER thread on a project Charger where the majority of the posters say the car is scrap. If we scrapped every car the naysayers write off, there's be way less Chargers to go around. :shruggy:

Has there been any thread here where the consensus was the car was viable for restoration? I honestly can't remember one.

It's a starting point for sure...... and with a further $60K - $80K investment it will be a very nice Green 1970 Charger R/T.
Only wimps wear Bowties !

After reviewing the photos of the car, I would agree with the 12k to 15k estimate. It needs all of the usual second generation Charger sheet metal replaced.  The car is still a matching numbers R/T,and after seeing that DY3 70 Charger R /T that was on the television show sell for 30k,I would not be surprised to see someone pay 20k for this one. I would not want that guy to be me!

And a bottomless wallet.

To me, the hobby today needs reasonably priced parts cars more than it needs "restored" rot boxes.

chargervert

There is no such thing as a second generation Charger parts car anymore . The market is based upon what buyers are willing to pay, and this market has proven this to be a fact.

Those days are long gone, now everything is a viable restoration candidate, regardless of how far gone it is up to and including just moving the numbers and salvageable parts onto a donor/aftermarket replica constructed body... in regards to this car, it is what it is, a 70 Charger R/T, it'll sell, and be restored/refurbished/rebodied, the current market supply/demand has dictated that...

This car is not for the dreamers that want a Charger, unless they have the skill and/or $$$ resources to refurbish it...

chargervert

This car is still a very restorable Charger R/T. You have to understand what it will take to restore the car.  Not everyone car afford the current market value of a restored  68 to 70 Charger R/T, but someone who is willing to do the work, can afford to buy a project car and do the restoration as time and money permit.

kent

I guess you have to start somewhere if you really want one. But at 25k for that version? Debateable. You know what we all say... their not making them any more, but they are for sale. lol

Everything is restorable....how much will actually be the original car after is debatable! But the point is the price...to pay that for a car needed that much work is just plain stupid when your can get abandoned projects with most of the costly and time consuming metalwork done for similar money..often those cars are spotted on this very forum or are members cars. Which is what I did....I was finding cars from a Dutch importer that were far worse than this 70 ...being offered for 10 to 12 thousand pound...and was tempted until I found an abandoned protect from the US with the floors/trunk done and only needed a few (dozen!) patches elsewhere for £15000.....no contest. My time is valuable and parts are very difficult to find here or expensive to import.....so no, that car is not worth the cash in my view and you could buy are more solid one for the same cash...or less! ....and in a nice colour!

I  agree that 25k for the buy in is too high for the car, but I know that it would bring 20k in The current market. It is still a matching numbers R/T. It costs the same amount of money to restore a Charger wether it is a 318 or slant 6, that it costs to restore the R/T. Atleast with the R/T one would have a better shot at getting their money back.

You could buy a solid Rust Free one that is done & save yourself a lot of money over Restoring a rust bucket. By the time people restore a rustbucket & then figure that out, it's to late. LEON.
