Good Day All,

Anyone have any experience in these brand of cams good or bad?

What type/model of cam from COMP would you recommend if rebuilding a 69 440 motor getting back to original as possible?

How do these compare to installing a Chrysler Cam for power etc?

Thanks for your help

I have seen them discussed a lot and recommended a number of times.  I also have a custom grind from them in my engine.  My impression (but wait for some of those who are really informed on this site) is that they are reputable and make a decent product.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

I have had no problems with them, however, their xe/hl series can kick up a bit of clatter.  Their 268AH is probably a good grind for a stock engine but I have no experience with it.

The XE 268 is a good cam for a mild 440 build and it's pretty quiet operating too, the XE 274 is my favorite cam for a 440 but will need a small stall converter and it a lil bit noisy but a good powerful and torquey camshaft. I am running the XE 284 in my RB engine and it runs good but is a bit more noisy than I like it to be but it is pretty big in duration so it is what it is.

One thing I've learned on here about cams is that if you are going to run manifolds you want a cam with a 112 lsa or bigger in order to work well with manifolds. Seems like the majority of the cams are in the 108-110 lsa range. Something to keep in mind.

Back N Black

I'm running a Com cam  XE 274 and I like it. Makes just shy of 500 hp and over 550 torque. :2thumbs:
