68 has new looms,duel field alt,new battery & plug type regulator. Problem is,when engine revs to 1000,alt gauge pegs to far right & stereo amp goes off.Amp has been fed directly from battery. :confused:   Everything is new.Any ideas.

It sounds like your voltage regulator isn't working.
If you have access to a hand held volt meter, place the leads on the battery posts and check what you're getting at idle - should be around 14 volts or so.  Rev the engine up over 1000 and see what the voltage reads, if it climbs your regulator is pooched.
