Between the roof skin and roof bows, the factory applied some sort of goop/sealer/glue. Any idea what it was and what I should use in its place? Would panel bond adhesive be overkill?

I am interested in this also.
Whatever is used, I would think it should allow the metal to expand and contract. Not sure if panel bond would allow that?
Is this the same stuff they used to bond the hood skin and trunk lid skin to there inner structures?

I posted the question on an autobody forum, and I was recommended this as it remains flexible but has some adhesion:

https://www.lord.com/products-and-solutions/adhesives/fusor-802hd804hd805hd806hd-high-definition-sealer

Ill probably use this because ita available locally (adheres but remains flexible):
