explain to me how to  get the air out of the cooling system, i was told to run with the rad cap off for like 10-20 mins till i didnt get anymore "puking"......then close while still running......is this correct?....

Well, sort of..  From a dry fill you will naturally have air in the system. Once you fill the system, start the engine with the cap off and watch the fluid in the rad. It will drop down some. Top it off. Continue watching it. As the engine get up to temp. the thermostat will open. when that happens I like to have a thick rag ready to cover the rad. as it may blow up at you. Typically after the stat closes the fluid level will be low. Top it off and cap the radiator. Let it run for a few more minutes to cycle the stat again and then shut the engine down. Check for leaks while it's cooling off.

Most older cars did not have recovery systems for coolant. I highly recommend putting a good one on if you have not allready.

it  wasnt a dry fill....but the way the car was heating up , it kinda hinted that an airbubble may have been there...so i ran it with the cap off...it got up to temp and a huge air pocket came out...and i do mean puked.....i thought it may have because the rad cap was old and i dont think it was doing much good anymore...i going to have the system flushed and refilled.....but just dont wanna over hear on my way to the shop.lol
