I heard a 400ci could be bored and stoked to make a 451 stroker. Is this true? How does a stroker compare to the new hemi by the price and #'s. HP/T and 1/4 mi ETs.

Well I would go with a 528 or 540 hemi if that is the route.

Personally other than the WOW factor you can do very well with a 451.  othewise go with a 496 stroker.....

I'l prefer to keep it all under the hood this go round. No SC or blower.

Ohhh I was not implying a SC.  I think bang for the buck go with the stroker.  I love hemis but to me for what you are looking for STROKER.

I did a 400 stroked to a 468 pulling 525 hp and 565 torque dyno.  The set up is mad power, however, everybody wants the 426 because its a hemi.  The price is probably the same, but you can't beat the stroker and more power.  Your decision.

Crate hemis are 12k+ correct? What do you think an engine shop would charge to stroke a block?

Well with carb, air cleaner etc, a "crate" motor (426 Hemi) would be in the 13,500+ Range.

To me you could cut that in half and have a GREAT 440 or stroker.... some sorts.

Go with the stroker, it'll be about half the cost of the Hemi.  That's with all the best stuff: Edelbrock heads etc, plus it'll be more streetable.   :2thumbs:
