Hello everyone and happy spring!

On my 68 RT, Im going to put in a Ray Barton 528 Hemi, 700 bhp.
I'd like to put in 4:11 gears.

For a transmission, Im thinking a 4 speed auto swap.
Or, rebuild my 727 and add a Gear Vendors Overdrive.

What 4 speed auto would be best if I go that route?
Any recommendations?

Thanks!

you wont need that gear with that much power,  :Twocents:

46RH/A518 would work, though you would need an adapter plate or cut a bellhousing off a BB 727 and weld on.

No, but just imagine driving it.  :drool5:

If i were doing a 4 speed auto conversion, the 4l80 is the no brainer. Beefy, brute strength and longevity. Parts are everywhere. Electronic adjustable.  Comes down to what do you want and how do you want it. The 518, 727 gv, or 4l80 will all work and will all require modifying parts.

IMO a 4 spd elevates the fun factor of driving the car, instead of just riding along.  I would recommend a 18 spline Hemi 833, or a Passon 833 OD for a .80 fourth gear.  I have the Passon OD in my '70 Cuda and a Brewers 833 in my '68 Charger with a 505 stroker.

There's also the Ultrabell which bolts up where your pump bolts go, so like welding a BB 727 to a SB A518, but bolt on, and SFI approved.

It works great, but the install into a B body is a lot of work. The OD on a A518,46RH is .69
