Can anyone recommend or put a link up to a decent engine stand that can hold a fully assembled 440 ? I bought one but it's too small to reach all the bolt holes & would like to get one without wasting anymore money. On the flip side....I got a engine stand for sale that will fit a 340 0r 360 perfectly !!!  :yesnod: :yesnod:

Most are too "small" as is, on the one I bought I had to mill out the bolt slots a bit longer to get that little extra reach on the lower two arms.

Yeah it's gonna sit on the stand for awhile that's why I want to get a strong enough one. Hoping to get some leads on a good one so I don't throw away anymore money

The one I bought was just a cheap Princess Auto one... held my 383 just fine, even drove it to the resto shop in the box of my truck and back again to have it blasted and painted. Didn't bend or break.

I use the Harbor Freight 1,000 pound stand (with 4 legs - not the 3 legged 750 pound one!). However, if I'm rolling it around or cranking on a bolt really hard I put some wood or other support on the front end as a brace. A complete big block with all the bells and whistles is about 700 pounds and I don't like all that floating in space. They also make a foldable version which they rate at 2,000 pounds but I have never used it.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

As far as engine stands go they're all pretty affordable, i just have a regular 1 ton 3 leg stand, been holding my 440 for a few months now, mind you i have it stripped down to the bare block. Be wary of the mounting arms, the one i have (borrowed from my mechanic) came with almost a 2.5 inch depth which far exceeded my bell-housing bolts, so i needed to purchase extra long ones at Rona haha.

Most 2000lb 4 leg stands are good to go, but I got tired of risky transfers with the shop crane because the wide stance doesn't fit between the crane legs. The 3 leg versions seemed to have too much bounce, so I went with a front T-bar (like 4 leg) style.  Rated 1,000lb, fairly stable, mounted right up to hold 440 long block.  All stands <$150 appear to have the same crap wheels and welds, but sufficient for storage.
