It looks like they filled in the seams for the quarter panel extensions and valence panel with body putty.  The quarter also seems to have a lot of putty in it....

anyone remember  in the yearone catalog in the 80s , might of been in the motor city originals catalog too , cant remember for sure , they were offering fiberglass  rust out quarter panels for second generation chargers , designed to be stuck straight over the original rotted quarter panel  :eek2:,

JB400

It's been cobbled together to get it in running condition.  I thought that was the new style. :shruggy:

Mike DC

It looks like somebody put some big cheap-grade patch panels on the back and forgot to cut the old ones off first.  Then they fixed it with gallons of filler.

Don't be too scared of it.  No matter how bad it is, it can't be much worse than simply cutting off the affected areas.  It still looks like most of a workable car left.

I would be more concerned about figuring out what else the bondo artist may have tried to fix.  Hackwork in one area of a car usually means hackwork in many areas.

69rtse4spd

Did you notices the other one under the car cover in the back round.

F8-4life

I take it they don't believe in feather sanding.
No big deal but why insult people with bad work and a high price tag?

Might as well put vett fender flars on it and make a LSD inspired 70's custom, would hide the flaws!

alfaitalia

Funny how the bumper fits one side but not the other..even though the end caps seem to be sitting roughly in the right place.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

JR

I agree the car looks to be savable. It should be brought back.

The buyer just has to figure in cutting off everything from behind the doors and starting over with new steel. I'm guessing the "body man" who did this just wanted to get the car one solid color so the seller could ask for more money.

I wonder if the guy who did this just kept pouring the filler on, and eventually whittled a car out of it, the same way clay modelers do?

Except, you know, minus the talent part.

Looks like he used drywall mud to fix the quarters.

Hey, I have done some "Bondo sculpting" in my time but my stuff actually looks right.

TeeWJay426

25K, with more bondo than metal in the quarters?? This one belongs in the delusional sellers thread...... ::)

But it's got a matching numbers 318! And 2/3 of a dash, a bypassed heater, no oil breather cap, and what is quite evidently a better than factory electrical system since not much is plugged in to the firewall plug.
